I have obviously been limited by the restrictions of space, and I have therefore tried to select types rather than to present a complete survey. From the story of the careers of these representative leaders the motives and achievements of the movement they impersonated may be rightly judged. In limiting these records to ministers of a single Christian fellowship, I would not seem to imply that liberalism is the possession or attribute of any one communion.
