Book Description
I can vividly recall Mama singing to me, "Hey, diddle diddle, the cat and the fiddle," during earlier years of my life. Then she expresses in song, break out with her homemade version with that Southern twist in her voice, "Dang dang dilly, you look so silly," as I would look out my bedroom window at a star-filled sky and full moon, waiting for the cow to jump over it.I would begin to giggle, burst out into laughter, yawn, and fall asleep. At the rise of the sun, I'd wake up to the smell of scrambled eggs cinnamon toast and hot chocolate. Skipping off to school, I couldn't wait to share the songs and stories Mama told me.Mom would feed the birds flying above and the animals below, help at the school as a teacher's aide, send money to feed the children, get to the hospital, visit the little ones, send donations to St. Jude's--all this are a great part of my learning experience along PBS.In my thirty-plus years of serving the communities of health-care homeless shelters and social services, my greatest joy comes from sharing my homemade song and stories with little ones in the homeless shelters. Now I continue to share my stories through tutoring in the Oasis Program for the public schools. For me the true meaning of living well is not in material things but in the sounds of laughter coming from a child. My desire is to give back to the programs my mom supported. My motive is to encourage and move children to read to their highest potential, help them believe that they can achieve their dreams and that the impossible is possible through consistency, perseverance, focus, staying in school, and never giving up.

Book Description
This is a great American novel. However, the story of Hector's Juice starts long before America was a country. In fact it starts long before any history was written about anything. It starts at the very beginning of time and fast forwards to evolution and the beginnings of mankind. But evolution also has a spiritual side and that's where Spencer the very first guardian angel comes in. He will take you from the beginnings of man in the Great Rift Valley of Africa to the lime colored gas chamber of San Quentin State Penitentiary in California. From the beginnings of surfing (not in Hawaii) to the gunfight at the OK Corral this is a great American novel that is neither restricted to time or space.

Book Description
Heart-pounding danger, action packed and dreadfully funny. A bored schoolboy, daydreaming of aerial dogfights and tank battles. What if his dream world became reality? What if this impulsive boy caused more damage and destruction than the assassin pursuing him? What if his sister was the real hero? A book for pre-teens and teenagers: accident, adventure, an exciting roller coaster of events infused with an ever-present humour. It paints strong characters in a believable world. Hector Trogg has a powerful story line combined with plot twists, incident and humour that will appeal as much to adults as it will to its target audience.

Book Description
Hector Kipling is a famous artist. But Hector is not as famous as his best friend, Lenny Snook. And as they are standing in the Tate Gallery one afternoon, Hector's life begins to unravel. For a painter, this existential crisis is the place from which great art is born. If the painter happens to be a forty-three-year-old man with a girlfriend away from home, it is the recipe for disaster. Soon it's all Hector can do to keep it together -- between his therapist who shows up drunk at a party and introduces herself to his parents, an irresistible young female poet with a terrifying taste for S&M, and a deranged stalker with an oil-and-canvas-inspired vendetta, just trying to cope is enough to make a man cry. As the events in his life threaten to drive him toward full-blown dementia, Hector finds himself in a bizarre and murderous pursuit of a man threatening to kill him in return, spiraling into a hysterically surreal Hitchcocklike thriller -- the story of how a man can become desperate enough to shoot his way out of a midlife crisis. At turns warm, witty, and joyfully absurd, David Thewlis's wicked comedy marks the debut of a savagely funny and observant literary talent.
