Book Description
This little book is for the future. It is a time capsule for our family, for Hazels descendants. It is her legacy in her words, some transcribed from recorded memories, some composed as stories told in third person. It is her message to the future about times past, as she glimpsed it, so that those who come after may share it. I once asked myself, among all the lessons I learned from the wisdom she dispensed, what was it that stood out. She was creative; she was loving; she was witty; she was resilient; she was honest; she was intelligent; she was curious; she was hard-working. Yet, the quality I want to point out is that in the course of her life, nothing was ever lost. She made the most of every moment, of every experience, of every acquaintance. While she did not live on a grand scale, over all those years, in all those places, among all the people she touched, she inherently knew that this was indeed the fabric of her life and that nothing was to be wasted, taken for granted, or ignored. Everyone she met remembered her because she was always fully present to those she encountered. Throughout Mothers journey, her devotion to family and friends defined her. She was intensely proud of Johns accomplishments, and she doted on her grandchildren, Matt, Julie, and Steve. In addition to Martha, in whom she found the daughter she always wanted, many younger women were especially drawn to her. To them she was mentor, ally, confidante, and friend. Doug Haydel Hazel was a widow about as long as she was married but she never loved anyone else and not a day went buy after Daddy died that she didnt miss him think about him fondly. They fit together like two pieces in a jigsaw puzzle with a lot of other pieces missing. Daddy was a dreamer and Hazel was an enabler. Mother gave us a love of learning through her example. She was a constant reader and often mispronounced new words because she didnt often have a chance to exercise her vocabulary with her friends with smaller vocabularies. She constantly reminded us of the plutocracy of the Haydels in early Louisiana and made us feel sort of special; at least our family was maybe once if not now. Hazel never learned to drive, was clumsy and never screwed lids on jars, causing lots of spilling. She often successfully depended on the kindness of strangers. She was a natural cook. She could walk into a kitchen bereft of pantry supplies and produce magical dishes. She was a beautiful woman. I once overheard his father talking to someone and he said my wife is a beautiful women I want you to meet her I felt sorry for my friends that didnt have a beautiful mother. They are both buried in the Catholic cemetery in Plaucheville, La. John Haydel

Write It Down, Make It Happen
Author: Henriette Anne Klauser
Publisher: Simon and Schuster
ISBN: 1471108406
Category : Body, Mind & Spirit
Languages : en
Pages : 194
Book Description
Too often, people drift through life with a feeling of frustration, longing to find some adventure or purpose in life, envious of those whose lives seem exciting. In WRITE IT DOWN, MAKE IT HAPPEN, Henriette Anne Klauser shows you how to write your own lifescript. Simply writing down your goals in life is the first step towards achieving them. The 'writing it down' part is not about time management; it is not a 'to-do today' list that will make you feel guilty if you don't get everything done. Rather, writing it down is about clearing your head, identifying what you want and setting your intent. You can 'make it happen' purely by believing in the possibility. In WRITE IT DOWN, MAKE IT HAPPEN, there are stories from ordinary people who witnessed miracles large and small unfold in their lives after they performed the basic act of putting their goals on paper.

Out of Love
Author: Hazel Hayes

ISBN: 059318453X
Category : Fiction
Languages : en
Pages : 417
Book Description
One of E! News' 13 Books to Read This September | One of Bookish's Debuts to Read in the Second Half of 2021 | One of Medium's Best Releases Out Today “Hazel Hayes writes with such honesty and casual confidence and flowing dialogue, you feel you are overhearing it rather than reading it. The writing sparkles with wit and a poignant emotional reality. I love it.”—Matt Haig, bestselling author of The Midnight Library “A smart, touching, time-bending romance. Funny and affecting.”—David Nicholls, bestselling author of One Day and Sweet Sorrow For anyone who has loved and lost, and lived to tell the tale, this gorgeously written debut is a love story told in reverse, a modern novel with the heart of a classic: truthful, tragic, and ultimately full of hope. Out of Love begins at the end. A couple call it quits after nearly five years, and while holding a box of her ex-boyfriend’s belongings, the young woman wonders: How could they have spent so long together? When did they fall out of love? Were there good times before the bad? These are the questions we obsess over when a relationship ends, even when obsessing can do no good. But instead of moving forward through the emotional fallout of a break-up, Out of Love moves backward in time, weaving together an already unraveled tapestry, from tragic ending to magical first kiss. Each chapter jumps further into the past, mining their history for the days and details that might help us understand love; how it happens and why it sometimes falls apart. Readers of Normal People; Goodbye, Vitamin; and One Day will adore this bittersweet romance, a sparkling debut that you won’t want to miss.

Book Description
*INSTANT #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER* *INSTANT #1 INDIE BESTSELLER* *INSTANT USA TODAY BESTSELLER* *A REESE'S YA BOOK CLUB PICK* "Schwartz's magical novel is at once gripping and tender, and the intricate plot is engrossing as the reader tries to solve the mystery. She doesn't miss a beat in either the characterization or action, scattering clues with a delicate, precise hand. This is, in the end, the story of the anatomy of the human heart." - Booklist (starred review) Dana Schwartz’s Anatomy: A Love Story is a gothic tale full of mystery and romance. Hazel Sinnett is a lady who wants to be a surgeon more than she wants to marry. Jack Currer is a resurrection man who’s just trying to survive in a city where it’s too easy to die. When the two of them have a chance encounter outside the Edinburgh Anatomist’s Society, Hazel thinks nothing of it at first. But after she gets kicked out of renowned surgeon Dr. Beecham’s lectures for being the wrong gender, she realizes that her new acquaintance might be more helpful than she first thought. Because Hazel has made a deal with Dr. Beecham: if she can pass the medical examination on her own, Beecham will allow her to continue her medical career. Without official lessons, though, Hazel will need more than just her books—she’ll need corpses to study. Lucky that she’s made the acquaintance of someone who digs them up for a living. But Jack has his own problems: strange men have been seen skulking around cemeteries, his friends are disappearing off the streets, and the dreaded Roman Fever, which wiped out thousands a few years ago, is back with a vengeance. Nobody important cares—until Hazel. Now, Hazel and Jack must work together to uncover the secrets buried not just in unmarked graves, but in the very heart of Edinburgh society.
