Book Description
Following the book Chris Grabenstein called "the most hysterically hilarious book I've read in years," the saga about the evil werepenguins of Brugaria continues! When we last saw our hero Bolt Waddle, he'd narrowly escaped the clutches of the evil Baron Chordata, but not the fate of becoming a half-boy, half-penguin for life. Living with his penguin colony far from other humans, he's adjusting to life as a full-time werepenguin when his bandit friend Annika tracks him down and begs for his help. Her father has been imprisoned by the Earl of Sphen, another ruthless werepenguin who rules his small country with an iron flipper. Bolt and Annika recruit a washed-up pirate and a plucky were-gull to help with their rescue mission, but as they get closer to victory, they realize that the Earl of Sphen isn't the only werepenguin whose sinister plans could cause their downfall.

Book Description
The story begins in the year 1819 when Nathaniel Coffin turns sixteen years, shortly after the tragic deaths of his parents and nine-year-old sister Christiana. Life became even more difficult after he was adopted by an alcoholic aunt named May Nickerson. Coincidentally, it was also the height of the sperm whale industry. His childhood wish to work on a whaling ship became all-consuming. Conflict soon arose after just six weeks at seathe result of a senseless harpoon strike that took the life of Nathans close friend and shipmate, Billy McGiven. Ostracized by his captain and crew, the offender, Duncan Albury, was set ashore. Ruthless and mean-spirited by nature, Albury found another ship, became its pirate captain, and orchestrated his revenge, which culminated on a secluded beach in Port Royal, Jamaica, setting the stage for a bloody and poignant battle. The odds are thirty to two. Do Nathan and Blackjack survive?

Book Description
The International Politics of Whaling examines contemporary whaling issues with an emphasis on three factors: our knowledge of whales and current whale populations and the impact of whaling; the actors and institutions involved in the debate over whaling; and the ethical dimension. Reluctantly, he concludes that the current global moratorium on whaling is problematic and that we must focus instead on habitat preservation in order to protect whales more effectively.

Book Description
By extending their voyages to all oceans from the 1760s onward, whaling vessels from North America and Europe spanned a novel net of hunting grounds, maritime routes, supply posts, and transport chains across the globe. For obtaining provisions, cutting firewood, recruiting additional men, and transshipping whale products, these highly mobile hunters regularly frequented coastal places and islands along their routes, which were largely determined by the migratory movements of their prey. American-style pelagic whaling thus constituted a significant, though often overlooked factor in connecting people and places between distant world regions during the long nineteenth century. Focusing on Africa, this book investigates side-effects resulting from stopovers by whalers for littoral societies on the economic, social, political, and cultural level. For this purpose it draws on eight local case studies, four from Africa’s west coast and four from its east coast. In the overall picture, the book shows a broad range of effects and side-effects of different forms and strengths, which it figures as a "grey undercurrent" of global history.
