Book Description
The Semantic Web is a worldwide endeavor to advance the Web by enriching its content with semantic metainformation that can be processed by inferen- enabled Web applications. Taxonomies and rules, along with their automated reasoning techniques, are the main components of Semantic Web ontologies. Rule systems are considered to be a major area in the further development of the Semantic Web. On one hand, rules can specify declarative knowledge in ontology languages, expressing constraints or transformations, either in conju- tionwith, orasanalternativeto, descriptionlogics.Ontheotherhand, rulescan specify behavioral knowledge, enforcing policies or reacting to events/changes. Finally, rule markup languages such as RuleML allow us to publish rules on the Web, to process rules in general XML environments as well as special rule engines, to exchange rules between di?erent applications and tools via XSLT translators, as well as to embed rules into other XML content and vice versa. This workshop was dedicated to all aspects of rules and rule markup l- guages for the Semantic Web. RuleML 2004 was the third in a series of wo- shops that was initiated with the International Semantic Web Conference. The previous workshops were held on Sardinia, Italy (2002), and on Sanibel Island, USA (2003). Book Description
The Anthology Horror short stories compiled in this Volume are based on Real Experience and stories of real people. The names used in the stories are names of real person who are either deceased or have survived a violent event or situation. Some changed their name as requested for whatever reason it might serve them. If I am going down a creepy road at night, I would rather be riding a car rather than on foot. It makes me feel a lot safer and moves around quicker. It doesn’t mean you are always safe though. Sometimes unexplained or just something paranormal are waiting to happen. There is a term for such a phenomenon the appearance in consciousness of memory images which are not recognize as such but appear as real. Sleep seems like a simple human rights does it not? Like eating and clothing the body. If you are hungry and came to me for food, would I hesitate to give it to you? Of course not. If you have nothing to wear would I not give you something of my own? Certainly I would. But if you needed sleep, a few hours of precious oblivion, how could I help you? I couldn’t and there is nothing I can do about it. We live in a changing times that we fear tomorrow more than yesterday. What’s to come next? Will be annihilated in our bed? Will we die from sleep paralysis? Will the ghost that had come with this book never leave you again? Is there any way ever living in peace ever again? Who can save us or the end is inevitable. WARNING: Do not read this book alone. And make sure that you are reading in a well-lighted area. The entities that are associated with this book might interact with you.

What kind of 'ruler' was Mao Zedong? Utilizing a rich mix of analysis and new translations, this book examines other imperial predecessors and the elements linking Mao and Ming Taizu, the fourteenth-century peasant rebel who founded the Ming dynasty, as well as critiques of Western and Chinese scholarship. The book then presents translations with commentary of PRC scholars on Taizu and Mao, showing the evolution in Chinese though toward both rulers from the Cultural Revolution to the Deng Xiaoping reform era.

Book Description
Scientists have identified southern China as a likely epicenter for viral pandemics, a place where new viruses emerge out of intensively farmed landscapes and human--animal interactions. In Virulent Zones, Lyle Fearnley documents the global plans to stop the next influenza pandemic at its source, accompanying virologists and veterinarians as they track lethal viruses to China's largest freshwater lake, Poyang Lake. Revealing how scientific research and expert agency operate outside the laboratory, he shows that the search for origins is less a linear process of discovery than a constant displacement toward new questions about cause and context. As scientists strive to understand the environments from which the influenza virus emerges, the unexpected scale of duck farming systems and unusual practices such as breeding wild geese unsettle research objects, push scientific inquiry in new directions, and throw expert authority into question. Drawing on fieldwork with global health scientists, state-employed veterinarians, and poultry farmers in Beijing and at Poyang Lake, Fearnley situates the production of ecological facts about disease emergence inside the shifting cultural landscapes of agrarian change and the geopolitics of global health.

Book Description
Throughout Nanjing’s history, writers have claimed that its spectacular landscape of mountains and rivers imbued the city with “royal qi,” making it a place of great political significance. City of Virtues examines the ways a series of visionaries, drawing on past glories of the city, projected their ideologies onto Nanjing as they constructed buildings, performed rituals, and reworked the literary heritage of the city. More than an urban history of Nanjing from the late 18th century until 1911 — encompassing the Opium War, the Taiping occupation of the city, the rebuilding of the city by Zeng Guofan, and attempts to establish it as the capital of the Republic of China — this study shows how utopian visions of the cosmos shaped Nanjing’s path through the turbulent 19th century.
