Les Français considèrent qu'il est normal de se soigner par eux-mêmes pour des pathologies bénignes, le tout accompagné par leur pharmacien. Or L'automédication n'est pas sans danger.Si l'automédication ne représente pas plus de 15% des dépenses de médicaments en France, contre une moyenne européenne de 32%, elle constitue un secteur en pleine expansion.Le pharmacien a un rôle majeur dans l'accompagnement des personnes dans une démarche d'automédication. De l'analyse pharmaceutique à la délivrance d'un médicament sans ordonnance, il a la responsabilité de détecter les problèmes et les risques encourus par le patient. En plus de ses connaissances pharmaceutiques et des outils déjà existants (historique patient, dossier pharmaceutique), l'intervention pharmaceutique permet de détecter, de résoudre, de classer et de standardiser les problèmes liés à la médication.Une intervention pharmaceutique standardisée existe déjà pour les pharmaciens cliniciens français, depuis peu pour la délivrance sur ordonnance en officine, mais pas pour l'automédication.L'étude des différentes grilles d'interventions pharmaceutiques europeénnes, offre des pistes pour sécuriser les requêtes d'automédication. Elles indiquent que les problèmes liés à cette médication sont, principalement, attribuables à l'ignorance du sujet sur ses capacités d'autodiagnostic, ses connaissances du médicament et sur l'utilisation du médicament demandé. L'automédication est en plein essor, car fortement incitée par les autorités de santé, et puisque l'industrie pharmaceutique souhaite exploiter ce marché, une intervention pharmaceutique standardisée deviendrait un vrai atout du pharmacien.

L'arrivée d'un enfant est un changement dans la vie des parents. Très souvent, ils sont inquiets sur la santé de leur nourrisson et viennent demander des conseils à la pharmacie. En effet, le pharmacien d'officine est un professionnel de santé de proximité, il a un rôle d'écoute et d'accompagnement. Administrer un médicament à un enfant n'est pas un geste anodin et l'automédication peut être source d'erreur médicamenteuse par les parents d'où l'importance du conseil officinal réalisé par le pharmacien d'officine. Ce dernier lors d'une demande spontanée de médicaments d'automédication peut être amené à réaliser des interventions pharmaceutiques dans le but de limiter la iatrogénie médicamenteuse et de sécuriser la délivrance. Ce travail de thèse présente les résultats d'une enquête portant sur les IP pédiatriques en automédication réalisée en Auvergne-Rhône Alpes sur la période 2018 à 2020, dont l'objectif était de mettre en évidence le service pharmaceutique rendu par le dispensateur. Ainsi, 184 IP en automédication chez les nourrissons et les enfants ont été notifiées dans cette étude. Quatre classes ATC sont apparues dans plus de 3⁄4 des cas : les médicaments du système respiratoire, du système nerveux, du muscle et du squelette et des voies digestives et du métabolisme. Un peu plus d'1/5 des IP ont été classées en niveau de risque évité modéré, et plus de la moitié ont été classées en niveau de risque évité très significatif. La solution proposée a été acceptée par plus de 95% des interlocuteurs. Ce travail a abouti à la rédaction de fiches conseils pratiques destinées aux parents de jeunes enfants. Elles répondent aux questions le plus souvent posées au comptoir sur les pathologies les plus courantes (ORL, dermatologie, digestif...). Elles visent à renforcer le conseil officinal en apportant une aide aux parents au moment de l'administration d'un médicament dans une démarche d'accompagnement vers une automédication responsable.
