Gross yield represents all of the wood produced. It represents the net yields ordinarily presented in normal yield tables plus the vol ume of all trees that died. Gross yield may also represent a potential value that intensive management can approach but never quite reach when the genetically unimproved species is grown on its natural site. As such, it represents a bench mark foresters can use to measure success of their own manage ment practices.
