Book Description
This book is about graph energy. The authors have included many of the important results on graph energy, such as the complete solution to the conjecture on maximal energy of unicyclic graphs, the Wagner-Heuberger’s result on the energy of trees, the energy of random graphs or the approach to energy using singular values. It contains an extensive coverage of recent results and a gradual development of topics and the inclusion of complete proofs from most of the important recent results in the area. The latter fact makes it a valuable reference for researchers looking to get into the field of graph energy, further stimulating it with occasional inclusion of open problems. The book provides a comprehensive survey of all results and common proof methods obtained in this field with an extensive reference section. The book is aimed mainly towards mathematicians, both researchers and doctoral students, with interest in the field of mathematical chemistry.

Book Description
Based on the use of graphing calculators by students enrolled in calculus, there is enough material here to cover precalculus review, as well as first-year single variable calculus topics. Intended for use in workshop-centered calculus courses, and developed as part of the well-known NSF-sponsored project, the text is for use with students in a math laboratory, instead of a traditional lecture course. There are student-oriented activities, experiments and graphing calculator exercises throughout the text. The authors themselves are well-known teachers and constantly striving to improve undergraduate mathematics teaching.

Book Description
Graph Database and Graph Computing for Power System Analysis Understand a new way to model power systems with this comprehensive and practical guide Graph databases have become one of the essential tools for managing large data systems. Their structure improves over traditional table-based relational databases in that it reconciles more closely to the inherent physics of a power system, enabling it to model the components and the network of a power system in an organic way. The authors’ pioneering research has demonstrated the effectiveness and the potential of graph data management and graph computing to transform power system analysis. Graph Database and Graph Computing for Power System Analysis presents a comprehensive and accessible introduction to this research and its emerging applications. Programs and applications conventionally modeled for traditional relational databases are reconceived here to incorporate graph computing. The result is a detailed guide which demonstrates the utility and flexibility of this cutting-edge technology. The book’s readers will also find: Design configurations for a graph-based program to solve linear equations, differential equations, optimization problems, and more Detailed demonstrations of graph-based topology analysis, state estimation, power flow analysis, security-constrained economic dispatch, automatic generation control, small-signal stability, transient stability, and other concepts, analysis, and applications An authorial team with decades of experience in software design and power systems analysis Graph Database and Graph Computing for Power System Analysis is essential for researchers and academics in power systems analysis and energy-related fields, as well as for advanced graduate students looking to understand this particular set of technologies.

Book Description
The 11th International Symposium on Graph Drawing (GD 2003) was held on September 21–24, 2003, at the Universit` a degli Studi di Perugia, Perugia, Italy. GD 2003 attracted 93 participants from academic and industrial institutions in 17 countries. In response to the call for papers, the program committee received 88 re- larsubmissionsdescribingoriginalresearchand/orsystemdemonstrations.Each submission was reviewed by at least 4 program committee members and c- ments were returned to the authors. Following extensive e-mail discussions, the program committee accepted 34 long papers (12 pages each in the proceedings) and 11 short papers (6 pages each in the proceedings). Also, 6 posters (2 pages each in the proceedings) were displayed in the conference poster gallery. In addition to the 88 submissions, the program committee also received a submission of special type, one that was not competing with the others for a time slot in the conference program and that collects selected open problems in graph drawing. The aim of this paper, which was refereed with particular care andUNCHANGEDtworoundsofrevisions, istostimulatefutureresearchinthe graph drawing community. The paper presents 42 challenging open problems in di?erentareasofgraphdrawingandcontainsmorethan120references.Although the length of the paper makes it closer to a journal version than to a conference extended abstract, we decided to include it in the conference proceedings so that it could easily reach in a short time the vast majority of the graph drawing community.

Book Description
Nowadays, engineering systems are of ever-increasing complexity and must be c- sidered asmultidisciplinary systems composed of interacting subsystems or system components from different engineering disciplines. Thus, an integration of various engineering disciplines, e.g, mechanical, electrical and control engineering in ac- current design approach is required. With regard to the systematic development and analysis of system models, interdisciplinary computer aided methodologies are - coming more and more important. A graphical description formalism particularly suited for multidisciplinary s- tems arebondgraphs devised by Professor Henry Paynter in as early as 1959 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA and in use since then all over the world. This monograph is devoted exclusively to the bond graph methodology. It gives a comprehensive, in-depth, state-of-the-art presentation including recent results sc- tered over research articles and dissertations and research contributions by the - thor to a number of topics. The book systematically covers the fundamentals of developing bond graphs and deriving mathematical models from them, the recent developments in meth- ology, symbolic and numerical processing of mathematical models derived from bond graphs. Additionally it discusses modern modelling languages, the paradigm of object-oriented modelling, modern software that can be used for building and for processing of bond graph models, and provides a chapter with small case studies illustrating various applications of the methodology.
