Book Description
In the wine industry, sustainability is an extremely important issue for two main reasons: Firstly, the industry faces serious threats as a consequence of climate change, as well as water and energy scarcity. Secondly, proper sustainable management of wineries can mean obtaining a competitive advantage by allowing them to increase market share and organizational innovation processes. In this sense, previous work has shown that customers tend to select wines that have been developed following sustainable practices, despite not knowing what this means in practice. The Handbook of Research on Sustainability Challenges in the Wine Industry serves as a guide for study, reflection, and critique to understand sustainability in the wine industry in its triple aspect (economic, social, and environmental). The book sheds light on the new trends and challenges of the wine industry, making it a must-read for academicians and managers who want to deepen their knowledge of the wine industry as well as its link with sustainability. Covering key topics such as wine tourism, green innovation, and consumer behavior, this major reference work is ideal for industry professionals, business owners, managers, entrepreneurs, researchers, scholars, academicians, practitioners, instructors, and students.

Book Description
With increased competition from new wine-producing countries and substitute products, declining wine consumption, climate change, health crises and geopolitical contexts, the wine industry has been facing serious difficulties in recent years. Paradoxically, however, this recent period also offers new opportunities. Through the presentation of original research results, reading grids, illustrations and case studies, Wine Management and Marketing 2 analyzes the main challenges facing the wine industry and considers new opportunities: a renewed dynamism of technical, organizational and commercial innovations; the adaptability of actors; a greater introduction of new technologies; etc. The multi-faceted approach adopted by the authors and experts offers an enriched reflection, which provides a better understanding of the current state of the wine industry, and presents various levers for adapting to new commercial, societal and environmental expectations.

Book Description
'This book overturns the old paradigm ideas about natural-resource-based activities. It sheds light on the new opportunities for technological dynamism and catching-up by using science to open novel directions in traditional sectors. It should become a classic in what I expect will be a very important academic debate and a new trend in development policy.' - Carlota Perez, Tallinn University of Technology, Estonia, Cambridge University and University of Sussex, UK 'This excellent book provides a deep understanding of why and how emerging countries are able to catch-up and enter international markets in an industry that once was considered as traditional, but which has now become a relatively articulated and sciencebased sectoral system.' - Franco Malerba, KITeS, Bocconi University, Italy 'This excellent book demonstrates better than any other I know the strengths and limits of the concept of a national system of innovation for understanding economic development today. Any careful student of innovation or development will want to read it.' - Charles Sabel, Columbia Law School, US 'In the New World, viticulture and wine production has had to develop with verve and enthusiasm, to be able to survive and to flourish. In countries like Chile and Argentina, the continuing decline of domestic wine consumption has forced technicians and entrepreneurs to conquer the world with innovation and technology, to produce wines of international taste and to attract potential buyers to these markets. This book is a very professional account of these phenomena, which have profoundly changed the marketing of wines in the past 20 years.' - Aurelio Montes, President of Viña Montes, Chile 'This book takes a fresh look at the innovations that have changed the global wine sector, presenting established thinking in a new light. Building on the world's knowledge base in wine production, the book encourages novel thinking for both Old World and New World producers. The content is topical, current and well written. This is a must-read for anyone with an interest in wine innovation.' - Sakkie Pretorius, The Australian Wine Research Institute

Book Description
"The implications of climate change for regional innovation remains understudied. Exploratory in nature, this study examines climate change innovations in two regional wine clusters in Australia. In South Australia, the evidence suggests firms in the wine industry are implementing climate change innovations at a higher rate than their counterparts in Western Australia, even though Western Australian firms appear to be experiencing more disruptive effects of climate change. To help explain these differences, key variables are examined. Knowledge exchanges (including types of knowledge) in the region and firm-level absorptive capacity explain the uptake of climate change innovations in South Australian firms, whereas knowledge exchanges alone (including types of knowledge) explain innovations in Western Australian firms. A discussion of the findings is offered along with future research opportunities for climate change research in regional studies"--Abstract.
