Book Description
Glass-Fibre Directory and Databook is a comprehensive listing of all commercially available glass-fibres, whether used for reinforcement, insulation or filtration. Full details - addresses, telephone and facsimile numbers - of the respective manufacturers, their affiliates, licensees and subsidiaries, agents and distributors are provided, together with tabulated specifications of the materials each offers. The volume is therefore an invaluable source of information for all those concerned in any way with glass-fibres in both the industrial and academic worlds. It enables professionals such as design engineers, consultants, purchase managers and specifiers to make an optimum choice from the wide range of materials now available so that the properties are more effectively tailored to both the application and the performance specification required.

Book Description
Glass Fibre Reinforcements form the foundation of a composites industry with a global annual production of greater than 10 million tons of high performance, light-weight materials. Possibly the most critical component involved in the manufacture of glass fibres and their composites is the fibre surface coating (or size). Yet because of the intense level of industrial secrecy around size formulations there are very few people in the vast chain of composite materials suppliers, processors and end users who have more than a superficial understanding of these coatings. Many questions are raised about glass fibre size by this large and growing composite community. But the most frequently asked is “what is actually in the size on this glass fibre product?” There is only one source of openly available information on commercial size formulations and that is the patents of the glass fibre manufacturers. This book contains analysis of more than 500 examples of patented size formulations many of which are probably still in use in commercial glass fibre production. The information is tabulated to allow readers to easily identify the similarities and differences between the sizes and their glass fibre products developed for different composite end-use applications, different composite processing techniques, and compatibility with different polymers. Also included is a chapter discussing how patents and their associated information can be used to gain insight into which size formulations may actually be in use in glass fibre production.List of Chapter Titles• Introduction • Sizes And Sizing In Glass Fibre Production• Size Formulations In Patents• Size Patents Of Owens Corning• Size Patents Of Vetrotex• Size Patents Of PPG Fiber Glass• Size Patents From Other Companies• Glass Fibre Product Identification• Conclusions From This Review244 pages, 13 Figures, 131 Tables, 5 Appendices

Book Description
F. T. Wallenberger This book serves as an introduction to advanced inorganic fibers and aims to support fundamental research, assist applied scientists and designers in industry, and facilitate materials science instruction in universities and colleges. Its three main sections deal with fibers which are derived from the vapor phase such as single crystal silicon whiskers or carbon nanotubes, from the liquid phase such as advanced glass and single crystal oxide fibers, and from solid precursor fibers such as carbon and ceramic fibers. Contents FIBERS FROM THE VAPOR, LIQUID AND SOLID PHASE 1.1 The most important phase isthe liquid phase 1.2 Afiber by any name isstill afiber 1.3 Biographic sketches ofthe authors 1.4 Acknowledgments CHAPTER 1 FIBERS FROM THE VAPOR, LIQUID AND SOLID PHASE F. T. Wallenberger The book describes advanced inorganic fibers, focuses on principles and concepts, analyzes experimental and commercial processes, and relates process variables to structures, structures tofiber properties and fiber properties to end-use performance. In principle, there are discontinuous or inherently short, and continuous or potentially endless, fibers. Short fibers range from asbestos fibers, which were described as early as 300 BC to carbon nanotubes which were discovered in 1991 [1] and have been fully described in 1999 [2].

Book Description
Building on the success of its predecessor with completely revised material and six new chapters, the Handbook of Polypropylene and Polypropylene Composites, Second Edition responds to increasing interest and changing global trends in the manufacture and application of polypropylene resin. The authors highlight viable options for the manufacture of polypropylene composites to better accommodate market requirements across various industries. The second edition introduces chapters on high-purity submicron talc fillers with lamellar microstructures, the utilization of Wollastonite fibers for polypropylene reinforcement, and updated material on nanocomposite production using exfoliated clay treated with maleated polypropylene-based materials, among many other topics.

Book Description
The combination of its unique morphology, physical properties, cost effectiveness and environmental friendliness make natural rubber an appealing constituent for many materials and applications. This comprehensive two volume set covers the synthesis, characterization and applications of natural rubber based blends, interpenetrating polymer networks, composites and nanocomposites. Volume 1 covers different types of natural rubber-based blends and IPNs as well as manufacturing methods, thermo mechanical characterization techniques, life cycle analysis and their applications. Volume 2 focuses on natural rubber-based composites and Nanocomposites including the different types of fillers, the filler-matrix reinforcement mechanisms, manufacturing techniques, and applications. This is the first book to consolidate the current state of the art information on natural rubber based materials with contributions from established international experts in the field. The book provides a "one stop" reference resource for professionals, researchers, industrial practitioners, graduate students, and senior undergraduates in the fields of polymer science and engineering, materials science, surface science, bioengineering and chemical engineering.

Book Description
A worldwide directory of commercially available adhesive products for use in a wide range of engineering disciplines. Along with product names and suppliers, basic property data are tabulated and cross-referenced. The book is subdivided according to class of adhesive, with introductions to each class followed by comparison tables and datasheets for each adhesive. The datasheets contain detailed information, from product codes to environmental properties and are therefore of interest across a broad readership. Standardized data will aid the user in cross-comparison between different manufacturers and in easily identifying the required information.
