Book Description
A minicomputer-based ultrasonic data acquisition and display system is described. The system consists of a PDP-11 minicomputer with peripheral modules necessary to program the computer, control a test, acquire data, store data, analyze and display data. An ultrasonic data acquisition interface module and a general purpose test control and data acquisition interface module are generally described. A number of computerized ultrasonic data displays of pulse echo flaw data, relative attenuation, and ultrasonic velocity data for a flywheel constructed of a Kevlar--Epoxy composite are included to illustrate the capabilities of the system in ultrasonically characterizing a material. 7 figures.

Pages : 414
Book Description
Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences was first conceived, published, SIld disseminated by the Center for Information and Numerical Data Analysis and Synthesis (CINDAS) * at Purdue University in 1957, starting its coverage of theses with the academic year 1955. Beginning with Volume 13, the printing and dissemination phases of the activity were transferred to University Microfilms/Xerox of Ann Arbor, Michigan, with the thought that such an arrangement would be more beneficial to the academic and general scientific and technical community. After five years of this joint undertaking we had concluded that it was in the interest of all con cerned if the printing and distribution of the volumes were handled by an interna and broader dissemination. tional publishing house to assure improved service Hence, starting with Volume 18, Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences has been disseminated on a worldwide basis by Plenum Publishing Cor poration of New York, and in the same year the coverage was broadened to include Canadian universities. All back issues can also be ordered from Plenum. We have reported in Volume 30 (thesis year 1985) a total of 12,400 theses titles from 26 Canadian and 186 United States universities. We are sure that this broader base for these titles reported will greatly enhance the value of this important annual reference work.

Pages : 42
Book Description
The interactive signal analysis and ultrasonic data collection system (ECHO1) is a real time data acquisition and display system. ECHO1 executed on a PDP-11/45 computer under the RT11 real time operating system. Extensive operator interaction provided the requisite parameters to the data collection, calculation, and data modules. Data were acquired in real time from a pulse echo ultrasonic system using a Biomation Model 8100 transient recorder. The data consisted of 2084 intensity values representing the amplitude of pulses transmitted and received by the ultrasonic unit. Smith, G. R. Unspecified Center NASA-CR-150745, REPT-78-066 NAS8-32490...

Experimental Hardware Development for a Pulsed Ultrasonic Data Collection Facility
Author: Peter A. Gatchell
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 59
Book Description
The work reported in this thesis used readily available components to implement a data acquisition system for a pulsed ultrasonic data collection facility. Use of hardware with controlling software is necessary to collect waveforms of acoustic potential at a given distance from the transmitting source. Precise movement and positioning of and acoustic receiver in the collection plane is accomplished by use of an xy coordinate motor-driven slide assembly. A signal generator and transient digitizer transmit and digitize the signal, respectively. These components are brought together synchronously using LabVIEW instrumentation software. This work provides an efficient means to collect waveform data which can be used to verify computer code written previously for the purpose of modeling pulsed ultrasonic acoustic diffraction patterns.
