Book Description
FW 190 Radial engine paint, markings, and production: Fieseler. This series is all about the paint and markings of Radial Engine FW190s. This book, like its siblings, will take you on a journey to understand the paint, camouflage, and markings of the FW 190s to get a working knowledge of what these aircraft looked like when newly made In this case from the Fieseler Flugzeug Werk. The questions, who, what, where, when, and why are explained. Combining over 24 beautiful color profiles of the aircraft, and its parts with 21 illustrations, period intelligence, captured documents, factory defects, interesting fun facts, and 63 photographs, this is your best way to understanding what the FW 190s really looked like. Telling the story of what Fieseler-built FW 190s looked like requires an understanding of where theaircraft sub-assemblies were produced, and where the final assembly of these parts took place. It is easy work in this book as just one final assembly location was used until in mid 1944 when an additional assembly line set up at the primary test airfield. A complex of factories around the city of Kassel were contracted to build the aircraft parts that Fieseler continued to produce. This was to create two sources of parts in case of one source being bombed out of existence. The most important part of the camouflage and markings of Fieseler built FW 190s is the intricate paint designs applied to the sides of the aircraft, being an intricate arrangement of three different colors of spots. The Fieseler spot design and its evolution are described in great detail. The Fieseler company diary was saved from destruction and presented for likely the first time. It contains many stories of the exploits, and dangers factory test pilots faced. These translated stories are retold along with the complete history of Fieseler's FW 190 production.
