Book Description
High Temperature Brazing in Controlled Atmospheres provides a discussion regarding the fundamentals, applications, and the potential of the brazing process. Comprised of eight chapters, the book covers several topics concerning the metallurgical process in brazing. Chapter 1 discusses the general bonding techniques, while Chapter 2 talks about the factors that affect the design of components to be joined by brazing and the theoretical aspects of the process that will influence design. Chapter 3 provides advices about the availability and properties of filler metals used in brazing, while Chapter 4 discusses furnaces. Chapter 5 tackles the atmospheric factors to consider in brazing, and Chapter 6 covers the brazing process itself. Chapter 7 talks about the applications of brazing in various settings, and Chapter 8 deals with quality control. The book will be of great use for technicians, designers, and engineering students or any other professionals whose work involves the brazing process.

Book Description
Compact aluminum heat exchangers are widely used in the automotive industry. The market in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC&R) industry is expected to grow. Controlled atmosphere brazing (CAB) is the state-of-the-art mass production technology. This chapter presents the manufacturing process for compact aluminum heat exchangers (e.g. micro-channel heat exchangers) using CAB. Suitable aluminum alloys are introduced and the principles of brazing sheet metallurgy, filler metal selection and application are described. Fluoride fluxes and recent developments in flux modification and application methods are discussed, and wetting and flow behavior of molten aluminum filler metals during brazing are explored. Some phenomena due to filler/base metal interactions are included. Recent developments of CAB heat exchanger materials with enhanced corrosion resistance are reviewed, and corrosion testing methods are discussed.

Book Description
Controlled Atmospheres for Heat Treatment describes the reaction complexities in heat treatment of metals under controlled atmosphere. Organized into 13 chapters, this book begins with the methods and classifications of heat treatment in controlled atmospheres. This topic is followed by the most popular atmospheres of heat treatment, namely, nitrogen and vacuum. The subsequent chapters deal with the components of heat treatment atmospheres, such as exogas, nitrogen base of monogas, endogas, and ammonia. The discussion then shifts to special gas atmospheres, including steam and those produced by cracking organic liquids. This book also covers several heat treatment processes, such as annealing, hardening, tempering, and heat treatment of powder metallurgical products in controlled atmospheres. A chapter describes the common methods used in protective gas techniques. The concluding chapter presents some dangers associated with controlled atmospheres and their corresponding technical safety precautions.

Book Description
A comprehensive source of generalized design data for most widely used fin surfaces in CHEs Compact Heat Exchanger Analysis, Design and Optimization: FEM and CFD Approach brings new concepts of design data generation numerically (which is more cost effective than generic design data) and can be used by design and practicing engineers more effectively. The numerical methods/techniques are introduced for estimation of performance deteriorations like flow non-uniformity, temperature non-uniformity, and longitudinal heat conduction effects using FEM in CHE unit level and Colburn j factors and Fanning friction f factors data generation method for various types of CHE fins using CFD. In addition, worked examples for single and two-phase flow CHEs are provided and the complete qualification tests are given for CHEs use in aerospace applications. Chapters cover: Basic Heat Transfer; Compact Heat Exchangers; Fundamentals of Finite Element and Finite Volume Methods; Finite Element Analysis of Compact Heat Exchangers; Generation of Design Data by CFD Analysis; Thermal and Mechanical Design of Compact Heat Exchanger; and Manufacturing and Qualification Testing of Compact Heat Exchanger. Provides complete information about basic design of Compact Heat Exchangers Design and data generation is based on numerical techniques such as FEM and CFD methods rather than experimental or analytical ones Intricate design aspects included, covering complete cycle of design, manufacturing, and qualification of a Compact Heat Exchanger Appendices on basic essential fluid properties, metal characteristics, and derivation of Fourier series mathematical equation Compact Heat Exchanger Analysis, Design and Optimization: FEM and CFD Approach is ideal for senior undergraduate and graduate students studying equipment design and heat exchanger design.
