Book Description
Straight after its invention in the early sixties, the Kalman filter approach became part of the astronautical guidance system of the Apollo project and therefore received immediate acceptance in the field of electrical engineer ing. This sounds similar to the well known success story of the Black-Scholes model in finance, which has been implemented by the Chicago Board of Op tions Exchange (CBOE) within a few month after its publication in 1973. Recently, the Kalman filter approach has been discovered as a comfortable estimation tool in continuous time finance, bringing together seemingly un related methods from different fields. Dr. B. Philipp Kellerhals contributes to this topic in several respects. Specialized versions of the Kalman filter are developed and implemented for three different continuous time pricing models: A pricing model for closed-end funds, taking advantage from the fact, that the net asset value is observable, a term structure model, where the market price of risk itself is a stochastic variable, and a model for electricity forwards, where the volatility of the price process is stochastic. Beside the fact that these three models can be treated independently, the book as a whole gives the interested reader a comprehensive account of the requirements and capabilities of the Kalman filter applied to finance models. While the first model uses a linear version of the filter, the second model using LIBOR and swap market data requires an extended Kalman filter. Finally, the third model leads to a non-linear transition equation of the filter algorithm.

Book Description
This work uses various model frameworks to study the evolution of equilibria in an open loop evolving economy in which the model characteristics evolve without any directional restrictions except for continuity. Applying mathematical methods, it is shown that equilibria can always be adapted in a piecewise gradual, non bang-bang way.

Book Description
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Second Theory of Cryptography Conference, TCC 2005, held in Cambridge, MA, USA in February 2005. The 32 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 84 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on hardness amplification and error correction, graphs and groups, simulation and secure computation, security of encryption, steganography and zero knowledge, secure computation, quantum cryptography and universal composability, cryptographic primitives and security, encryption and signatures, and information theoretic cryptography.

Book Description
Because of the clearly important role cooperative systems play in areas such as military sciences, biology, communications, robotics, and economics, just to name a few, the study of cooperative systems has intensified. This book provides an insight in the basic understanding of cooperative systems as well as in theory, modeling, and applications of cooperative control, optimization and related problems.

Book Description
The book deals with collaborative planning, an approach to supply chain planning which aims to coordinate planning tasks of independent supply chain partners while respecting their local decision authority. The major contribution of this work is to provide a process model concerned with the decision making and negotiation aspects of collaborative planning. Taking technological means for data exchange as a given, it sketches a detailed picture of a collaborative planning process at the medium-term level of master planning, assuming that mathematical programming models are used by all partners. Building on the planning process, it indicates how financial outcomes and partner incentives are affected by the negotiations of supply quantities between buyers and suppliers, and demonstrates how supply contract terms can be adapted in order to establish a win-win situation for all partners.

Book Description
The economy is examined by the authors as a complex interactive system. The emphasis is on the direct interaction between agents rather than on the indirect and autonomous interaction through the market mechanism. Contributions from economists and physicists emphasise the consequences for aggregate behaviour of the interaction between agents with limited rationality. Models of financial markets which exhibit many of the stylised facts of empirical markets such as bubbles, herd behaviour and long memory are presented. This includes contributions on bargaining, buyer-seller relations, the evolution of economic networks and several aspects of macro-economic behaviour. This book will be of interest to all those interested in the foundations of collective social and economic behaviour and in particular, to those concerned with the dynamics of market behaviour and recent applications of physics to economics.

Book Description
Practitioners in process industry have to increasingly adapt their global production networks to changes in the competitive environment. A majority of the supply network design models proposed by academia do not sufficiently capture the questions that have to be resolved. This book provides the necessary operations research decision support tools. It builds on an example of the specialty chemicals industry.

Book Description
The attachment effect can hinder effective negotiation. Parties are influenced by their subjective expectations formed on account of the exchange of offers, they form reference points, and loss aversion potentially leads to a change of preferences when expectations change. This book presents a motivation, formalization, and substantiation of the attachment effect. The results can be used for prescriptive advice to negotiators.
