Book Description
This book contains a selection of fiddle tunes arranged for the beginning cello player. the idea is to supply a sampling of melodies that will give almost instant gratification to the novice. One of the drawbacks of the classic way of teaching cello is the boredom of some of the early pedagogic repertoire. This book is meant to be an antidote to that tedium. Fiddle tunes are great ways to become accustomed to typical manipulations of major scales and to introduce the sound of arpeggios. the only technical requisite for the music is the ability to play a major scale of some sort. the tunes were chosen for their fun melodic content while demonstrating some typical aspects of fiddling. They are grouped by key with a couple of exceptions and roughly arranged in order of difficulty within each key group. the included split-track CD demonstrates many of the tunes with guitar accompaniment and will help teach the swing phrasing.

Book Description
Basic Fiddlers Philharmonic: Old-Time Fiddle Tunes is absolutely perfect for introducing fiddling to your youngest string players. Eleven tunes from the old-time American fiddling tradition are presented first in a simplified, "basic" version of the tune printed with note names in the note heads. Following the Philharmonic format, the tune is then presented in an "advanced," but still accessible version of the tune. Several options for simple back-ups and very basic improvisation tips are provided for each instrument. Basic Fiddlers Philharmonic keeps each version on its own staff to avoid confusing young readers and lyrics are included where applicable.

Book Description
Written as a companion to the wildly popular fiddle book, this method opens up the world of fiddling to the beginning/intermediate cellist. Finally fiddlers, violists and cellists can jam together! Unlike many books for violas and cellos which simply transpose the tunes, the authors went to considerable effort arranging the tunes to be both playable and true to the original melody and key. Variations to the tunes are included illustrating how they can serve as a basis for improvisation. Ensemble skills are taught with chords and lyrics, basic music theory, and demonstrations of such skills as backup and lead playing in this playfully- illustrated book. A high quality, multi-instrumental CD for listening and play-along captures the excitement of the music. Like its fiddle counterpart, this method is destined to be a classic.

In this book, your child can jump into an imaginary violin world and be reminded—in a fun way—of the fundamentals of hand position and bow movement. After reading this memorable folk tale, the young violinist will say, “I must move the bow from my elbow so that I don’t make the old oan’s house shake and I will leave space between my hand and the violin so that the Peg family can visit their cousins!” This book is much more than a fun story—it is also full of the technical details that parents and teachers want and appreciate. So hop inside Vio’s Violin to visit the old man, the Peg family, and the people of Tail Town and learn more about the wonderful world of music.
