Book Description
Ferromagnetic resonance was measured on crystal-oriented samples of the Co delta Ti delta M series prepared by means of topotactical reactions. Samples with a high degree of alignment were obtained with anisotropies ranging from +6000 oe (uniaxial) to -4900 oe (planar). Resonance conditions can in general be described by existing theories, developed for single crystals of hexagonal crystal structure. Line width measurements on these materials are also viewed in the light of existing theories. (Author).

Book Description
This final report presents a review of the work accomplished on this contract. A review of the physics of hexagonal ferrite materials and the effective linewidth concept and the detailed overall research plan are contained in the original proposal document. The focus of the program was on the effective linewidth in millimeter wave materials, including planar hexagonal ferrite Y- type materials, uniaxial M-type materials, and thin ferromagnetic transition metal and alloy films. The key idea in the original proposal was that the ferromagnetic resonance linewidth in hexagonal ferrites is dominated by inhomogeneous and two-magnon scattering losses and that off-resonance measurements of the effective linewidth would (1) show that the FMR losses do not represent the intrinsic losses and (2) that the intrinsic losses are significantly lower. This basic idea was verified. Results were obtained on the off-resonance far-field effective linewidth in planar Zn-Y hexagonal ferrite single crystal platelets, single crystal spheres of Ba- and Sr-hexaferrite materials, and permalloy thin films. Three papers on these results have been published.

Book Description
A study of single-crystal ferrimagnetic crystals at microwave frequencies was conducted. The parallel pumping technique was used to experimentally measure spin-wave line width, magnetoelastic coupling constants, energy exchange constants, and phonon linewidths. The experiments were carried out at 300K, 194K, 77K, and 4.2K at X- and K-band frequencies. Four samples of pure, single-crystal yttrium iron garnet (one disk, and three spheres) were extensively investigated. Conditions for optimum detection sensitivity of spin-wave instability measurement are given and discussed. The theory of parallel pumping is explained and worked out in detail. Expressions are obtained for spin-wave and phonon linewidths, magnetoelastic constants and exchange constants in terms of experimentally measured quantities. A literature search was made for publications dealing with parallel-pumping phenomena. These articles (over 75) are abstracted for their contents relative to this investigation. (Author).

Book Description
The authors studied the ferromagnetic resonance and the Faraday effect in ferrite-spinel and ferrite-garnet monocrystals at 8300 Mc. The chemical composition of the various spinels and garnets used is given together with the measured data concerning the saturation magnetization, g-factor, magnetic anisotropy constant, width of the ferromagnetic resonance line (as a function of crystal orientation), and specific polarization plane rotation angle (as a function of the applied magnetic field).

Book Description
The unique properties of ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) in magnetodielectric solids are widely used to create highly efficient analog information processing devices in the microwave range. Such devices include filters, delay lines, phase shifters, non-reciprocal and non-linear devices, and others. This book examines magnetic resonance and ferromagnetic resonance under a wide variety of conditions to study physical properties of magnetodielectric materials. The authors explore the properties in various mediums that significantly complicate magnetic resonance and provide a summary of related advances obtained during the last two decades. It also covers the emergence of new branches of the spectrum and anomalous dependencies on the magnetic field. Key Features: Reviews basic principles of the science of crystallographic symmetry and anisotropic solid-state properties Addresses the inhomogeneous nature of the distribution of the magnetization in the material being studied Explains the mathematic methods used in the calculation of anisotropic solids of a solid Provides the reader with a path to substitute electromagnetic waves when magnetostatic apparatus prove insufficient

Book Description
Ferromagnetic Resonance: The Phenomenon of Resonant Absorption of a High - Frequency Magnetic Field in Ferromagnetic Substances is a collection of papers on the basic theory of ferromagnetic resonance. The book discusses the theory of ferromagnetic resonance in detail and the investigations and treatments of problems in this theory. The text consists of nine chapters covering such topics as the linear approximation of ferromagnetic resonance; non-linear processes occurring during ferromagnetic resonance in ferromagnetic semiconductor; the spin-wave theory of ferro- and antiferromagnetism and its application to the problem of ferromagnetic resonance; and the theory of the line width of the resonance absorption of the energy of a UHF field in ferromagnetics. Physicists will find the book very useful.
