Book Description
This responds to your request for information on the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) air traffic control (ATC) modernization program. This program is aimed at modernizing the current ATC system to permit continued safe and efficient air travel. It consists primarily of acquisitions to modernize ATC, including radars, computers, and communications networks. ATC modernization is funded largely through FAA's Facilities and Equipment (F & E) appropriations. The F & E appropriation has increased almost 10-fold, from about $260 million in fiscal year 1982 to almost $2.4 billion in 1992. FAA is seeking $2.7 billion in its fiscal year 1993 request, a 13-percent increase over the fiscal year 1992 appropriation.
