Book Description
The Evolutionary Biology of Extinct and Extant Organisms offers a thorough and detailed narration of the journey of biological evolution and its major transitional links to the biological world, which began with paleontological exploration of extinct organisms and now carries on with reviews of phylogenomic footprint reviews of extant, living fossils. This book moves through the defining evolutionary stepping stones starting with the evolutionary changes in prokaryotic, aquatic organisms over 4 billion years ago to the emergence of the modern human species in Earth's Anthropocene. The book begins with an overview of the processes of evolutionary fitness, the epicenter of the principles of evolutionary biology. Whether through natural or experimental occurrence, evolutionary fitness has been found to be the cardinal instance of evolutionary links in an organism between its ancestral and contemporary states. The book then goes on to detail evolutionary trails and lineages of groups of organisms including mammalians, reptilians, and various fish. The final section of the book provides a look back at the evolutionary journey of "nonliving" or extinct organisms, versus the modern-day transition to "living" or extant organisms. The Evolutionary Biology of Extinct and Extant Organisms is the ideal resource for any researcher or advanced student in evolutionary studies, ranging from evolutionary biology to general life sciences. - Provides an updated compendium of evolution research history - Details the evolution trails of organisms, including mammals, reptiles, arthropods, annelids, mollusks, protozoa, and more - Offers an accessible and easy-to-read presentation of complex, in-depth evolutionary biology facts and theories

God's Covenant - Extinct or Extant?
Author: Belo Alvaran
Publisher: Ukiyoto Publishing
ISBN: 9814989185
Category : Fiction
Languages : en
Pages : 455
Book Description
Why are there privileged people, mostly whites? God’s Covenant provides for it: • “Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the field,” said the LORD to a people who were mostly whites. Why are the whites being disenfranchised today in many places? God’s Covenant also provides for it: • “If you break my covenant, cursed shall you be in the city, and cursed shall you be in the field,” said the LORD. In God’s scheme of things, whites and non-whites have similar potentials. • “[Is he] the God of the Jews only? [is he] not also God of the Gentiles (i.e., non-Israelites)? Yes, he is God of the Gentiles also,” said the Apostle Paul • “The sons of the stranger (non-Israelites), that…take hold of my covenant…will I bring to my Holy Mountain and make them joyful…” said the LORD. Read in this book what privileges God reserves for whites and non-whites who take hold of his Covenant! Written in simple, intelligible everyday English for people of all ages, gender, color and nationalities!

Cesti: The Extant Fragments (Die Griechischen Christlichen Schriftsteller Der Ersten Jahrhunderte)
Author: Sextus Julius Africanus
Publisher: Walter de Gruyter
ISBN: 9783110194937
Category : History
Languages : en
Pages : 448
Book Description
Iulius Africanus has rightly been called the "Father of Christian Chronography". His world chronicle is one of the few works of Christian literature pioneering a new genre. Late Antiquity and the Middle Ages mainly articulated their reflection on history in the form of the world chronicle. The work has not been preserved in its entirety; the extant fragments have to be laboriously pieced together from the works of later authors. To date, there has not been a critical edition of this material, and the edition in use today dates back nearly 200 years (J.M. Routh 1814). This new edition in the GCS series closes an old gap in the programme of this series - and at the same time marks a new beginning, because this is the first edition ever in this series to be published with an English translation. The edition establishes a completely new foundation for our knowledge of Early Christian historical thinking, and in addition provides an important component in our understanding of an important epoch, the "Imperial Crisis" of the 3rd century, in which the new world of Late Antiquity began to develop out of the Hellenic-Roman heritage.

The present catalog provides a compilation of all supra- and (infra-) specific taxa of extant and fossil Valvatidae (Ectobranchia), a group of freshwater operculate snails (Gastropoda, Heterobranchia). Taxa initially described in this family and bsequently classified in other families (in particular Hydrobiidae and Planorbidae, but among others also larval shells of trichopteran insects) as well as names due to errors or misspellings are likewise included. For each taxon the full original reference and the ype locality (and type horizon in fossils) is provided. Remarks on nomenclatorical problems and possible solutions are added if necessary. As a novelty the extensive reference list is as far as possible directly linked to the internet source (digital view or pdf-download) of the respective papers to facilitate future taxonomic research.
