L'auteur rappelle la morphologie et la physiologie de l'appareil manducateur, ainsi que les troubles pathologiques de l'articulation temporo-mandibulaire, en relation avec les anomalies de l'articulé dentaire. Il donne les résultats d'une expérimentation personnelle portant sur 18 étudiants au moyen d'un "capteur tridimensionnel" réalisé par le Professeur Tajan et permettant d'enregistrer les mouvements mandibulaires sur un oscillographe cathodique, à partir des déplacements d'un point lumineux, analysés par cellules photo-electriques. Sur 9 sujets, il a comparé les résultats de son enregistrement avec des électromyogrammes correspondants. Les résultats montrent que la plupart des sujets examinés présentent des troubles de l'A.T.M. avec des anomalies occlusales liées à des déséquilibres de la contraction musculaire ; et des diagrammes avec d'importantes déviations : positions rétrusives, protrusions, latéralités. Trois cas, après correction, ont présenté des électromyogrammes normaux et des diagrammes où la rotation est associée à la translation. Ceci serait un argument en faveur de la théorie de Marsh Robinson. L'existance physiologique d'un glissement de la relation centrée à la position centrée infirme la théorie gnathologiste de concordance de ces deux positions.
