The deactivation of the MM II missile system involves the removal of the warhead/reentry vehicle and the guidance systems and then the removal of the boosters (i.e., missiles without guidance systems) from silos at three operational bases The boosters are then turned over to Ogden Air Logistics Center (OO-ALC) and transported to Hill Air Force Base via established transportation routes used during the MM II Depot Maintenance Program. At Hill AFB the boosters are disassembled and the individual motors prepared for storage.

The proposed action sets forth state-approved transportation routes to be used during MM II motor shipments. The purpose and need of this proposed action is to facilitate the deactivation of the MM II missile system by providing safe carriage of rocket motors to NADA and Kirtland Base. There are no construction impacts associated with the Proposed Action.
