Book Description
The Asia and the Pacific region has become a global economic powerhouse. The region's rapid and sustained economic growth, increasing population, expanding industrialisation and rapid urbanization are driving rapid growth in energy demand, which. Ensuring that supplies of energy are adequate to meet the growth in demand in ways that are socially, economically and environmentally responsible creates a new set of challenges for policymakers. The transition to 2030 energy pathway, which is aimed at addressing those challenges, has four coherent and interlinked objectives - increased energy supply to meet the growing demand, improved energy security, meeting the SDG7 targets and achieving NDCs. Addressing the complex and challenging task requires policymakers to develop a clear, sustainable and achievable pathway that would enable the countries, as well as the region as a whole, to achieve the 2030 goals and targets This report undertakes an in-depth analysis to first determine the level of achievement is possible under the current policy regime by developing a baseline. It then identifies the gap between the baseline and the 2030 targets to inform policymakers the additional efforts and resources that would be needed to adequately achieve SDG7 targets as well as the NDCs mitigation targets for the energy sector. Finally, different transition pathways have been developed and their socio-economic and environmental facets have been examined to assist policymakers to make an informed decision. The report also identifies the enabling policy, technology and market environment that would accelerate the achievement of the 2030 targets.

Book Description
Energy Growth Nexus in an era of Globalization reviews current research and practical policy considerations reflective of the ongoing transformation, covering four broad globalization themes from existing research literature: energy consumption, renewable energy consumption, financial markets and energy markets. Within these themes, contributors evaluate transformations in the energy-growth association relating to economic slowdowns, trade patterns, impacts of globalization, cross-border technological spillovers, changes in the risk profile of the countries, advent of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), changes in the pattern of cross-border labor force migration, and rising environmental awareness, among many other considerations. Policymakers, energy economists, and energy researchers in a range of connected disciplines will find this to be a great resource on the energy growth sector. - Addresses globalization relating to energy consumption, environmental quality, econometrics and energy markets - Demonstrates how to design effective energy and environmental policies in a rapidly globalizing world within a Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) framework - Reviews open research questions relevant to energy-growth nexus so policymakers can bring forth socioeconomic stability

Book Description
The global energy system is undergoing a profound transformation from a system based mainly on fossil fuels to a low-carbon one based on variable renewable energy (VRE), such as wind power and solar power, to achieve the 2050 Paris Agreement. By 2050, solar and wind power, with more than 14,500 GW installed capacity, would account for three-fifths of global electricity generation. This transformation comes with significant challenges since high VRE shares will greatly increase system flexibility requirements for balancing supply and demand. Accordingly, all sectors of the power system need to unlock further requisite flexibility through technology, business, and policy innovations, including power supply, transmission, distribution, storage, and demand.

Book Description
COVID-19 has disrupted all aspects of human life. To mitigate the impact of the pandemic, several efforts have been taken, including by Indonesian scholars abroad. This book entitled Indonesia Post-Pandemic Recovery Outlook: Strategy towards Net-Zero Emissions by 2060 from the Renewables and Carbon-Neutral Energy Perspectives explores energy sustainability and climate change issues and how it can progress further. There are also discussion on the delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic to a few major renewable energy projects that should have been done in 2020-2021. Comprising of 14 chapters, this book is divided into three sections. The first part, Indonesia's Current Position and Strategy for Renewable Energy, explores Indonesia's current position and strategy on New and Renewable Energy. This chapter also explores Indonesia's commitment towards Net-Zero Carbon Emission 2060. Second, Carbon-Free and Renewable Energy in Indonesia, discusses the status of renewable energy use in the world, elaborate on the carbon impact of energy shift from fossil to renewable sources, and introduce a new criterion in renewable energy: carbon-neutral energy. The last part, Indonesia's New Strategy to Achieve Net-Zero Emission in 2060, explores the macroeconomic benefits of renewable and carbon-neutral energy deployment which are increasing energy security, fueling GDP development, creating job opportunities, enhancing human welfare, and achieving gender equality. We hope that this book can be a valuable reference for stakeholders, policymakers, as well as society to recover from the pandemic crisis and find better solutions to benefit future generations.

Book Description
This Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Special Report (IPCC-SRREN) assesses the potential role of renewable energy in the mitigation of climate change. It covers the six most important renewable energy sources - bioenergy, solar, geothermal, hydropower, ocean and wind energy - as well as their integration into present and future energy systems. It considers the environmental and social consequences associated with the deployment of these technologies, and presents strategies to overcome technical as well as non-technical obstacles to their application and diffusion. SRREN brings a broad spectrum of technology-specific experts together with scientists studying energy systems as a whole. Prepared following strict IPCC procedures, it presents an impartial assessment of the current state of knowledge: it is policy relevant but not policy prescriptive. SRREN is an invaluable assessment of the potential role of renewable energy for the mitigation of climate change for policymakers, the private sector, and academic researchers.
