Book Description
In Roe v. Wade, perhaps the most controversial United States Supreme Court decision, Norma McCorvey fought for and won the right to secure an abortion. Though she never had an abortion, under the pseudonym "Jane Roe," Norma reluctantly became the poster child for the pro-choice movement. Over the next two decades, Norma experienced the grief and despair of millions of women who chose to abort their babies; she witnessed the destruction of thousands of human lives in abortion clinics where she worked; and the "champion" of the pro-choice movement was soon being crushed by the weight of so much pain, so much death, and so many ill-considered "choices." Finally, she began to break. She found out that the real choice she had been burdened with was not about abortion but about eternal life. It was a choice that would shock the world and change Norma's life forever.

Book Description
When most people think of child molesters they think of children lured into vans or victims of creepy old men lurking around school grounds. They don't think of Josh Duggar's sisters or Irish Catholic boys from rural Wisconsin getting abused repeatedly by an older brother. They should. That is the reality. That is the untold story of untold millions. Empty Playground is a memoir that shares the journey from childhood sex abuse through the repercussions suffered and into recovery and healing. It is the story of a male survivor, an often overlooked segment of the survivor community. It is a story often lived but not often told as men, both gay and straight, are so reluctant to speak about their abuse and often stay silent about their emotions as well. It has only been in the last decade or so that male survivors have been added to the discussion of sexual assault but the topic has more recently become recognized, particularly with the revelations of several well-known survivors, among them basketball player Keyon Dooling, hockey player Theo Fleury, and actor Tyler Perry. They have all told their stories. There are countless other stories out there about ordinary people who have survived similar abuse, but most of them remain untold. Empty Playground is one such story, told with an unflinching directness and gentle honesty.

Book Description
Some cities have grown into mega cities and some into uncontrolled sprawl; others have seen their centres decline with populations moving to the suburbs. In such times, questions of the public realm and public space in cities warrant even greater attention than previously received. Concerned with the borders and boundaries, constraints and limits on accepting, acknowledging and celebrating difference in public, Sophie Watson, through ethnographic studies, interrogates how difference is negotiated and performed. Focusing on spaces where to outside observers tension is relatively absent or invisible, Watson also reveals how the boundaries between the public and private are being negotiated and redrawn, and how public and private spaces are mutually constitutive. Through her investigation of the more ordinary and less dramatic forms of encounter and contestation in the city, Watson is able to conceive an urban public realm and urban public space that is heterogeneous and potentially progressive. With numerous photographs and drawings City Publics not only throws new light on encounters with others in public space, but also destabilizes dominant, sometimes simplistic, universalized accounts and helps us re-imagine urban public space as a site of potentiality, difference, and enchanted encounters.

Book Description
The Illusion Mirror : The Transformation of a Finnish Girl Studying Abroad in Korea Do we truly possess free will? Is the self a real entity, or is it merely an illusion? Irena Löykanto, once a Finnish scholar studying civil engineering in South Korea, found herself entangled in a shocking theory. Through her exploration of fluid dynamics, hydrology, and soil mechanics, she began to suspect that the world she lived in might be a simulation. To her, everything in existence—soil, water, air, even light—felt like moving "data packets" within an artificial design. Her research blurred the line between reality and fiction, leading her to the unsettling realization that the universe itself might be nothing more than an elaborate illusion, like a mirror reflecting endlessly. Even after her time, she exists within someone's record, gazing at us from the void, questioning the concept of the "self" and realizing how hollow the idea of free will truly is. In the end, she understands that what we've trusted as free will was just another part of nature, governed by unseen forces. The Illusion Mirror poses profound philosophical questions about self, reality, and fate, challenging the reader to reflect deeply. Do we really have the power to choose our path, or is everything already designed as part of someone else's plan? As you follow Irena's journey, the boundaries between illusion and truth blur, and you may find yourself questioning whether your own life is part of a grand simulation. By chance or destiny, you've come across this book—but perhaps that, too, was predetermined.
