Samuel French (1687-763) was born in Bradford Abbas, Dorset, England, the son of Samuel and Susannah French. He and his wife, Mary Price (d. 1775), had eleven children, ca. 1710-1730. The family immigrated to America, ca. 1715 and were living at Stratford, Fairfield County, Connecticut, in 1722. Samuel and Mary French are buried in the old cemetery east of Huntington Center, Fairfield County, Connecticut.
