Book Description
The recent impetus to produce rigorous solutions to more realistic models of pertinent propagation problems, over a wide frequency range, has generated the need to derive full wave solutions to problems of radio wave propagation in dispersive, inhomogeneous, anisotropic and dissipative media with irregular boundaries. The considerable growth in civil and military interest in the development of more reliable systems for communication, detection, navigation and positioning, the potential for developing radio wave methods for remote sensing and the need to develop secure hardened communication systems have contributed much to this renewed interest. These developments have been paralleled by remarkable advances that have been made in the availability of high powered, very low frequency electromagnetic sources as well as the availability of transmitters operating at optical frequencies. The ready access to large, versatile digital computers has made it possible to employ the rigorous full wave approach to obtain numerical solutions to a wide class of important problems which have hitherto been either ignored or over-idealized in order to reduce them to tractable problems. The results of these investigations have been presented in 50 technical articles which include published manuscripts, computer program papers and invited and contributed papers at international conferences.

Book Description
High voltage engineering is extremely important for the reliable design, safe manufacture and operation of electric devices, equipment and electric power systems. The 21st International Symposium on High Voltage Engineering, organized by the 90 years old Budapest School of High Voltage Engineering, provides an excellent forum to present results, advances and discussions among engineers, researchers and scientists, and share ideas, knowledge and expertise on high voltage engineering. The proceedings of the conference presents the state of the art technology of the field. The content is simultaneously aiming to help practicing engineers to be able to implement based on the papers and researchers to link and further develop ideas.

Book Description
This review volume deals with recent advances in topics of importance to scientists and engineers involved in research and device development utilizing magnetic oxides and multilayers. The subject matter covered includes linear and nonlinear high frequency magnetic excitations and interaction between magnons and photons. In particular, this book contains detailed discussion on the detection of magnons by Brillouin light scattering and photothermal spectroscopy, interaction between spin waves and optical guided modes, microwave solitons, and spin wave instabilities. Recent advances in traditional characterization techniques such as ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic resonance, and in studies on magnetic order in noncrystalline oxides are also presented.

Book Description
The Symposium covered three major areas: adaptive control, identification and signal processing. In all three, new developments were discussed covering both theoretical and applications research. Within the subject area of adaptive control the discussion centred around the challenges of robust control design to unmodelled dynamics, robust parameter estimation and enhanced performance from the estimator, while the papers on identification took the theme of it being a bridge between adaptive control and signal processing. The final area looked at two aspects of signal processing: recursive estimation and adaptive filters.
