Book Description
Ecotronica is a creative visual, conceptual and sonic investigation of phenomena which explores the nexus of music, technology and ecology. It is driven by mounting socio-ecological concerns and seeks to develop new creative practices and re-conceptualisations that are responsive to the Anthropocene epoch. In particularMore specifically, the projectit is attuned to current advances in audio technologiesy that can extend human perception of the environment, and innovative concepts that reconcile divisions between the human and the nonhuman. To these ends the research contributes to knowledge by bringing a theoretical framework grounded in new materialist conceptualisations into dialogue with sound studies and practice-based music research. It gives expression to an assemblage of novel human and nonhuman sonic processes and intra-actions by means of bio-data sonification, field recording, cymatics, electronic music composition and tactile audio technologies. The thesis draws from areas of study related with sound, music composition and ,contributes to the key fields of creative data sonification, sonic art and electronic music, both materially and conceptually, through a creative apparatus presented as a four-minute original music composition with accompanying film and multi-media installation with accompanying written exegesis.

SME FP6 Project Catalogue
Author: European Commission. Directorate General for Research
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 602
Book Description
The Sixth Framework Programme (FP6) which ran from 2002 to 2006, offered innovative small to mediumsized enterprises (SMEs) with good research ideas but no research facilities the possibility to outsource their research to research performers via two specifi c schemes devoted exclusively to the needs of SMEs: Co-operative Research and Collective Research. This catalogue contains all 473 projects funded under both schemes. What is a Co-operative Research project? A Co-operative Research project supports SMEs that can innovate but which have no research facilities of their own. It brings together these smaller players from different countries with a specifi c research objective or need and then assigns a large part of the work required to research and development (R&D) performers. R&D performers could be universities, research centres or technological institutes. They do not control the results they produce; the ownership and intellectual property rights of the research remains exclusively with the SMEs which contract out the work. FP6 placed a strong emphasis on this kind of SME support and set aside about EUR 320 million to fi nance Co-operative Research activities. Typical Co-operative projects last from 1 to 2 years and cost between EUR 0.5 and EUR 2 million each. [ from introduction ] Publisher's note.
