Book Description
-- The main target for scams are those 50 years of age or older. -- This book will expose all the latest scams, frauds, and cons -- and can be updated yearly, if necessary, to expose all the latest schemes. Fraud -- credit card fraud, telemarketing scares, Internet scares, identity theft and hundreds of other items that are geared to separate you from your money -- is a multi-billion dollar business, both in the U.S. and worldwide. From a simple three-card monte game on a street corner to sophisticated banking and Wall Street swindles, cons, frauds and scams are destined to strike one in ten Americans this year. Check kiting, ATM scares, bankruptcy fraud, real estate scams, Nigerian money offers, and even slave reparation scams -- there are hundreds, maybe thousands, of ways to get suckered by telemarketers or just plain fast-talking swindlers. Scary stuff, right? This book identifies the myriad of scams, cons, and frauds perpetrated every minute of every day in this country, and gives cutting-edge, up-to-date advice on how you can protect yourself from unscrupulous cons of every conceivable stripe. There will also be an entertaining section on con artists through history, from the infamous grifters of the Great Depression to the masterminds of the recent Enron collapse -- perhaps one of the greatest scams in America's history.

Book Description
The purpose of this book is to take you and your puppy from the dream, (before your puppy is even a reality, which means finding the right breeder, one using ENS, an enrichment program and PAT testing, to picking the right puppy), to properly training your puppy once you bring him or her home, to build that ultimate relationship, that perfect partnership that bonds you for life. There are so many optimal steps that can be taken long before you and your puppy ever step into a training class. The techniques used are applicable to large breeds, mixed breeds and rescues as well as giants. The term giants refers more to size and weight than any particular breed.

Book Description
In the minds of many, the nineteenth-century Irish famine seemed to create an environment that later produced an avoidance of marriage, drunkenness, violence, and mental illness. If ever predominant in Irish cultural behavior, those moments have passed. As a result, Professors Philip L. Kilbride and Noel J. J. Farley outline the positive contributions the contemporary Irish make to the world around them, particularly Africa. From this, generosity emerges as a major Irish cultural virtue. The authors trace it from the Celtic period, showing how it became a central concern of Roman Catholics from the nineteenth-century to today. Professors Kilbride and Farley use ethnographic techniques and narrative perspective to focus on the life of an Irish entrepreneur and philanthropist who has lived in Africa since 1970. They also illuminate the missionary work in Kenya of an Irish Jesuit and others of Irish heritage there. These accounts, coupled with other narratives and historical evidence, detail the prevalence and practice of Irish generosity to further document what they conclude is an Irish caring tradition. This volume will be of interest to a wide audience including anthropologists, economists, historians, philosophers, political scientists, sociologists, theologians, and Irish and African studies programs. It is accessible to undergraduate and graduate students as a supplemental reading within the varieties of fields aforementioned. Book jacket.
