Goodbye Miramar
Author: Hector R. Valles
Publisher: AuthorHouse
ISBN: 1728346460
Category : Fiction
Languages : en
Pages : 216
Book Description
The book starts in the neighborhood of Miramar in San Juan, Puerto Rico towards the end of the 1960s It begins in midst of a relationship between two college students. The woman is Susan Ruiz, the daughter of a well known artist of the time, who is seeped in European culture: and her male counterpart is Hector Ramon Martinez, the son of a renown medical doctor who lives in Ocean Park, a neighborhood of established professionals. The novel takes place in the middle of the intellectual, political, and drug culture of the time. Hector Ramon Martinez, who aspires to be a writer, but who suffers a severe mental breakdown, is sent to Spain where he is hospitalized in the Esquerdo Sanatorium before he drifts through different cities in an attempt to find himself, in a valid reason for his life. The two of them will meet again in New York University in Manhattan where even though they are in the process of drafting their doctoral dissertations, they walk and talk the streets of the Big Apple without a clear idea of what they can become. The result for him, at any rate, is this convoluted text.

Blood and Shadows
Author: Michael Main
Publisher: iUniverse
ISBN: 0595251927
Category : Fiction
Languages : en
Pages : 474
Book Description
Eric Baine is pretty lively for a dead guy. With determination and deadpan wit, he faces down a variety of villains—including vampires, werecats and ninjas—in Blood and Shadows, Michael E. E. Main's debut novel. The action is fast-paced, the characters individual, interesting and fun. I look forward to many sequels! —Marion Moore Hill, author of Bookmarked for Murder "That's the beauty of my position, Doctor Grimes. I can make a theory go a long way. See, I'm not a cop. The whole 'theory and fact and evidence leading to proof' thing is just one big grey area for me. If I can get a theory to hold together pretty well, then that's really all I need." I cracked my knuckles. "And, if the guy behind all this is a vampire—well, then he's not really alive, is he? So I don't have to worry about the 'legality' of putting a stake through his heart, and then running him through a tree shredder." Grimes stuck his nose in the air again. "How droll." Hard-boiled detective, Eric Baine, and his vampire/assassin sidekick, Azrael, battle ninjas, a vampire High Lord, and shadow demons in this dark, fast-paced fantasy. When Baine's sarcastic client disappears and he meets a mysterious Chinese woman with psychic powers, the story really heats up.
