Book Description
This volume is dedicated to the field identification of pigeons and doves, and it incorporates much recent information on the family. Pigeons and doves are a large family of birds occurring throughout the world. Many species are specialist frugivores, while others feed on seeds. Most are arboral and the tropical species in particular are often brightly coloured. The family includes gregarious migratory species, as well as shy, ground-dwelling forms such as the exotic crowned pigeons of New Guinea.

Book Description
Follow the Angels, Follow the Doves is an origin story in the true American tradition. Before Bass Reeves could stake his claim as the most successful nineteenth-century American lawman, arresting more outlaws than any other deputy during his thirty-two-year career as a deputy U.S. marshal in some of the most dangerous regions of the Wild West, he was a slave. After a childhood picking cotton, he became an expert marksman under his master’s tutelage, winning shooting contests throughout the region. His skill had serious implications, however, as the Civil War broke out. Reeves was given to his master’s mercurial, sadistic, Moby-Dick-quoting son in the hopes that Reeves would keep him safe in battle. The ensuing humiliation, love, heroics, war, mind games, and fear solidified Reeves’s determination to gain his freedom and drew him one step further on his fated path to an illustrious career. Follow the Angels, Follow the Doves is an important historical work that places Reeves in the pantheon of American heroes and a thrilling historical novel that narrates a great man’s exploits amid the near-mythic world of the nineteenth-century frontier.

Book Description
This is a story of love and loss, of passion and tragedy, and of the triumph of the spirit in both man and beast. Pennsylvania 1910. Abby Whitman, a twenty-eight year old secretary with an interest in classical music, lives with her mother, Maggie, who works as a part-time seamstress to help make ends meet. Abby pays a visit to Dr. Raymond Fletcher, whom she secretly fancies and he gives her the unfortunate news that she has a cancer. Dr. Fletcher is devoted to Abby and he seeks the aid of a renowned doctor who has apparently discovered an experimental treatment that has proven to eradicate cancer. During a camping trip, Abby befriends Madison, a young girl, who shares with Abby an interest in music and who will provide a dramatic change in Abbys life. Abby is under Dr. Fletchers personal care and an appreciation for each other develops as he begins to treat her cancer and her prognosis remains uncertain. A subplot to the human story involves a female mourning dove, recently widowed, and her bird neighbors who nest in the large oak tree near Abbys house. As the human story develops so does the story of heartache and resolve in the birds as their own existence is constantly threatened. The birds serve as a witness to the human story around them as well as their own.

Book Description
“What about people who don’t have a family to look out for them, to love them?” Abe asked. “Does their spirit shrivel up and die too?” “Not always, and it never has to come to that,” Sarah responded. “Discovering the love God has for each one of us and accepting the forgiveness that He freely gives can mend a dried-up and dying spirit.” Five years after the turn of the twentieth century, Sarah and her seven children are thriving on their rural Indiana farm. A young girl, physically beaten, emotionally battered, and near starvation, finds refuge in the family’s barn. Sarah takes the child in, bringing along with her a shadow of danger that threatens the family’s sense of security. Sarah goes on high alert to protect her family and leans on God’s love, wisdom, and the light of His grace to guide them through the darkness of fear. Read The Shelter of the Dove’s Wings, book 2 in the continuing saga of the lives of Sarah and her children. The family’s diverse and endearing personalities continue to define them as characters who leap from the pages, make you laugh, and steal your heart. Add a dash of unresolved conflict from book 1, On the Wings of a Dove, and the flavor of an old friend seeking romance, then season with the spices of life ground from small-town living, and you have a recipe for a story that challenges your objectivity while nourishing your faith.
