El proyecto tiene como objetivo el diseño de un punto de luz para alumbrado urbano en zonas peatonales que utilizará lámparas con tecnología LED (diodo emisor de luz). El diseño exterior del punto de luz será una combinación de aspecto antiguo con estilismo más moderno y el empleo de nuevas tecnologías donde se implementará un sistema de fácil mantenimiento mediante el cual no sean necesarias herramientas para acceder y operar en el interior de la luminaria en altura. El objetivo principal en el empleo de lámparas con tecnología LED es mejorar la eficiencia energética. De este proyecto final de carrera resultará un informe que contendrá, de forma detallada, el diseño estructural completo del punto de luz, su grupo óptico con un reflector y sistemas auxiliares eléctricos. Además irá acompañado de un estudio luminotécnico con simulación y otros dos mediante análisis por elementos finitos, uno estructural y otro de disipación de calor, además de todos los planos constructivos.
