Book Description
This book addresses the latest research advances, innovations, and applications in the field of urban drainage and water management as presented by leading researchers, scientists and practitioners from around the world at the 11th International Conference on Urban Drainage Modelling (UDM), held in Palermo, Italy from 23 to 26 September, 2018. The conference was promoted and organized by the University of Palermo, Italy and the International Working Group on Data and Models, with the support of four of the world?s leading organizations in the water sector: the International Water Association (IWA), International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research (IAHR), Environmental & Water Resources Institute (EWRI) - ASCE, and the International Environmental Modelling and Software Society (iEMSs). The topics covered are highly diverse and include drainage and impact mitigation, water quality, rainfall in urban areas, urban hydrologic and hydraulic processes, tools, techniques and analysis in urban drainage modelling, modelling interactions and integrated systems, transport and sewer processes (incl. micropollutants and pathogens), and water management and climate change. The conference?s primary goal is to offer a forum for promoting discussions amongst scientists and professionals on the interrelationships between the entire water cycle, environment and society.

Book Description
Modelling urban drainage is a cost-effective way of designing new systems or analysing and optimising existing systems. However, models will only be beneficial if they sufficiently accurately represent the complex physical, chemical and biological processes going on in the urban drainage system. Part of the challenge of the discipline lies in establishing what level of detail is appropriate for the task in hand, what are the data requirements (reliability, certainty, spatial and temporal coverage etc.), what are the computational demands, where are the system boundaries, etc. The aim of UDM '98 was to bring together specialists to tackle such questions, to present new ideas and revisit old ones, and exchange experience of urban drainage issues. It was the largest in the UDM series so far with participants from 40 countries and over 100 papers/posters. From these 35 papers have been selected covering rainfall/runoff, sewer processes, hydraulic, water quality and sewer quality modelling, hydroinformatics, stormwater management, asset, operational and urban pollution management, and developing countries issues. These proceedings highlight the latest developments, both theoretical and practical, in urban drainage modelling and will be of great value to researchers and practising engineers alike.

Book Description
This new edition of a well-established textbook covers the environmental and engineering aspects of the management of rainwater and wastewater in areas of human development. Urban Drainage deals comprehensively not only with the design of new systems, but also the analysis and upgrading of existing infrastructure. Keeping its balance of principles, practice and research, this new edition has significant new material on modelling, resilience, smart systems, and the global and local context. The two new authors bring further research and practice-based experience. This is an essential text for undergraduate and graduate students, lecturers and researchers in water engineering, environmental engineering, public health engineering, engineering hydrology, and related non-engineering disciplines. It also serves as a dependable reference for drainage engineers in water service providers, local authorities, and for consulting engineers. Extensive examples are used to support and demonstrate the key issues throughout the text.
