Los insumos dentro de la construcción ocupan un papel primordial. El desperdicio que se presenta, inconsciente o conscientemente, afecta de forma considerable al costo directo. En vivienda horizontal, donde se realizan cientos de éstas, conocer los desperdicios nos permite tener un mayor beneficio para la empresa y un costo menor de la vivienda. Implicaciones importantes tanto para la productividad de la industria, como para el impacto ambiental. Los residuos de los materiales han sido reconocidos como un problema importante en la industria de la vivienda los cuales tienen además, la medición de los residuos juega un papel importante en la gestión de los sistemas de producción, ya que es una forma eficaz de evaluar su desempeño, permitiendo que las áreas tengan una mejora potencial. [1] El éxito de un proyecto se da cuando se cumple con las necesidades del cliente al mismo tiempo que se beneficia la empresa constructora. En el actual entorno empresarial, el dinero escasea y los clientes están buscando empresas de ingeniería que puedan ofrecer el mejor producto al menor costo. Los insumos son de suma importancia dentro de la fase de construcción y si se tienen controlados desde ésta fase el costo de la vivienda será menor y por consiguiente el crecimiento del sector de la vivienda tendrá un impacto mayor. Generalmente, la estimación de las cantidades de recursos para construir una vivienda se hace siguiendo una metodología que determina las cantidades de recursos que se requieren por unidad de cada uno de los conceptos de obra en que se divide una vivienda para facilitar su análisis. Aunque esta es una metodología muy detallada y sistematizada, existen algunos factores que influyen sobre la precisión de los resultados, como son: la experiencia previa del personal que elabora la estimación y la ejecución de los procesos, la disponibilidad de bases de datos de análisis de costos específicos para las condiciones del lugar en que se va a ejecutar la obra y la correspondencia de las condiciones establecidas en la estimación con las condiciones reales de ejecución. Desgraciadamente la industria de la vivienda no conoce de una forma precisa el costo de los desperdicios que se generan durante la etapa de construcción. A través del análisis del costo de desperdicio de insumos se pretende saber el costo de los desperdicios en la construcción. De esta forma se obtendrá una mayor utilidad, menores costos, mayor competitividad y productividad.

This publication provides an overview of the common and unique sustainability elements of Indigenous Peoples' food systems, in terms of natural resource management, access to the market, diet diversity, indigenous peoples’ governance systems, and links to traditional knowledge and indigenous languages. While enhancing the learning on Indigenous Peoples food systems, it will raise awareness on the need to enhance the protection of Indigenous Peoples' food systems as a source of livelihood for the 476 million indigenous inhabitants in the world, while contributing to the Zero Hunger Goal. In addition, the UN Decade of Action on Nutrition (2016-2025) and the UN Food Systems Summit call on the enhancement of sustainable food systems and on the importance of diversifying diets with nutritious foods, while broadening the existing food base and preserving biodiversity. This is a feature characteristic of Indigenous Peoples' food systems since hundreds of years, which can provide answers to the current debate on sustainable food systems and resilience.
