Book Description
What is "moral" in the modern age? What is truly "ethical"? Adler skillfully separates "real" good from "apparent" good, and shows how excesses--like gluttony, or the lust for power--simply mistake the means for the ends. Drawing on the entire Western philosophical tradition, he tackles (and solves) some of the thorniest ethical problems facing the world today. This clear and straightforward book is geared toward the lay reader rather than the philosophy student.

Book Description
Desires of the Heart is about the completeness that God has brought to each of us through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. At the same time, it discusses some of the issues that cause Christians to be defeated in their everyday lives. It is predominately based on a simple truth: God's own Word has already established His promises about each of us, and if we will allow the truth of these promises to enter into the inner man, it changes the desires of our hearts and the direction of our lives. Likewise, the promises also have the capability of overpowering a sinful nature and making us exactly into the people that are pleasing to God. God will never change His mind about these promises and they are available for everyone who chooses to believe Him, because of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. The author had a somewhat religious upbringing and came to know salvation as a teenager. But preoccupation with the concerns of life caused him to have a mediocre understanding of what salvation really meant. Being weighed down with getting an education and working for a living, it would be years before he realized this lifestyle was not God's way for him. Through several events, it became apparent God wanted to carry these "cares" and have a closer relationship with him. It was during this time, through the Holy Spirit, he was led to quit his job, write a book called Desires of the Heart and have it published by Tree of Life. There was no such publishing company but 3 years later when the book was finished, God showed him Xulon Press. The Greek word xulon means, tree as it refers to Tree of Life in the Bible.

Book Description
From the New York Times bestselling author who “delivers lively lovers” and “entertaining, sensual historical romance” (Booklist) comes the first in her new series The Duke’s Men, featuring the Duke of Lyons and the illegitimate daughter of a viscount. They are the Duke’s Men—an investigative agency born out of family pride and irresistible passion...and they risk their lives and hearts to unravel any shocking deception or scandalous transgression. Maximilian Cale, the Duke of Lyons, accepted long ago that his kidnapped brother was dead. When a cryptic note from investigator Tristan Bonnaud claims otherwise, Max seeks out Tristan’s sister, Lisette—and is infuriated to learn that Tristan has mysteriously vanished. Have the siblings perpetrated an elaborate hoax? Or is the fiercely protective beauty as innocent as she claims? Fearful that the powerful duke will destroy Tristan’s career in his zeal for the truth, the clever Lisette convinces Max to accompany her to Paris in a joint search for their loved ones. But their journey takes a seductive twist when they pose as an ordinary husband and wife—not an English duke with a tarnished family name and the illegitimate daughter of a viscount—and discover an exhilarating passion free from the damning secrets of the past. With the line between danger and desire enticingly blurred, they discover that some mysteries, like those of the heart, are answered tenfold in the bliss of a true and trusting love.

Book Description
Tibor R. Machan, one of the most prolific and wide ranging philosophers of our time, has been known internationally for decades through his public speaking, opinion columns, and of course his scholarly writing. This collection of essays seeks to explore Machan's philosophical ideas by considering some of the basic issues with which he has been concerned throughout his long and highly productive career. The essays range from those concerned with the nature of reality and knowledge to those dealing with the nature of the political/legal order. Topics such as the character of human nature, free choice and responsibility, the justification of individual rights, and the place of justice in the contemporary welfare state--among other basic issues--are discussed in these essays. Because Machan himself dealt with questions of central importance, the essays should appeal to a wide range of interests and disciplines in philosophy and related fields. But the essays are also written by people accomplished in their own right and thus seek not only to comment on Machan, but to make their own contribution to enduring philosophical issues. The volume should be of value to both students and faculty alike.
