El interes actual por los valores ambientales se deriva de la consideracion de que los problemas ambientales como la polucion o la exterminacion de especies, son considerados cada vez mas como sintomas de un desorden en los valores y, por tanto, la causa de la crisis ecologica es, antes que nada, una crisis de la conciencia moral humana y social. Esta es la razon de que se vea como una tarea urgente e imprescindible atender a la elaboracion de una etica que atienda a las cuestiones concernientes a la interaccion del ser humano con su medio natural. Si la raiz de la crisis ecologica se situa en el ambito moral o etico su solucion requiere una transformacion etica. De ahi que exista un consenso respecto a que en buena medida corresponde a la educacion abordar el reto de desarrollar en la poblacion un sistema etico que atienda a unos valores de respeto hacia el mundo natural. Este trabajo se hace eco del interes actual por estas cuestiones y es su objetivo analizar y reflexionar sobre posibles alternativas a la hora de educar en los valores ambientales.
