Book Description
Fuzzy systems and data mining are indispensible aspects of the digital technology on which we now all depend. Fuzzy logic is intrinsic to applications in the electrical, chemical and engineering industries, and also in the fields of management and environmental issues. Data mining is indispensible in dealing with big data, massive data, and scalable, parallel and distributed algorithms. This book presents the proceedings of FSDM 2023, the 9th International Conference on Fuzzy Systems and Data Mining, held from 10-13 November 2023 as a hybrid event, with some participants attending in Chongqing, China, and others online. The conference focuses on four main areas: fuzzy theory, algorithms and systems; fuzzy application; data mining; and the interdisciplinary field of fuzzy logic and data mining, and provides a forum for experts, researchers, academics and representatives from industry to share the latest advances in the field of fuzzy sets and data mining. This year, topics from two special sessions on granular-ball computing and the application of generative AI, as well as machine learning and neural networks, were also covered. A total of 363 submissions were received, and after careful review by the members of the international program committee, 110 papers were accepted for presentation at the conference and publication here, representing an acceptance rate of just over 30%. Covering a comprehensive range of current research and developments in fuzzy logic and data mining, the book will be of interest to all those working in the field of data science.

Book Description
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 9th International Conference on Intelligent Data Analysis, IDA 2010, held in Tucson, AZ, USA in May 2010. The 21 revised papers presented together with 2 invited papers were carefully reviewed and selected from more than 40 submissions. All current aspects of intelligent data analysis are addressed, particularly intelligent support for modeling and analyzing complex, dynamical systems. Topics covered are end-to-end software systems; modeling complex systems such as gene regulatory networks, economic systems, ecological systems, resources such as water, and dynamical social systems such as online communities; and robustness, scaling properties and other usability issues.

Book Description
Handbook of Educational Data Mining (EDM) provides a thorough overview of the current state of knowledge in this area. The first part of the book includes nine surveys and tutorials on the principal data mining techniques that have been applied in education. The second part presents a set of 25 case studies that give a rich overview of the problems that EDM has addressed. Researchers at the Forefront of the Field Discuss Essential Topics and the Latest Advances With contributions by well-known researchers from a variety of fields, the book reflects the multidisciplinary nature of the EDM community. It brings the educational and data mining communities together, helping education experts understand what types of questions EDM can address and helping data miners understand what types of questions are important to educational design and educational decision making. Encouraging readers to integrate EDM into their research and practice, this timely handbook offers a broad, accessible treatment of essential EDM techniques and applications. It provides an excellent first step for newcomers to the EDM community and for active researchers to keep abreast of recent developments in the field.

Book Description
This book aims to bring together researchers and practitioners working across domains and research disciplines to measure, model, and visualize complex networks. It collects the works presented at the 9th International Conference on Complex Networks (CompleNet) in Boston, MA, March, 2018. With roots in physical, information and social science, the study of complex networks provides a formal set of mathematical methods, computational tools and theories to describe, prescribe and predict dynamics and behaviors of complex systems. Despite their diversity, whether the systems are made up of physical, technological, informational, or social networks, they share many common organizing principles and thus can be studied with similar approaches. This book provides a view of the state-of-the-art in this dynamic field and covers topics such as group decision-making, brain and cellular connectivity, network controllability and resiliency, online activism, recommendation systems, and cyber security.

Book Description
This book presents a unique approach to stream data mining. Unlike the vast majority of previous approaches, which are largely based on heuristics, it highlights methods and algorithms that are mathematically justified. First, it describes how to adapt static decision trees to accommodate data streams; in this regard, new splitting criteria are developed to guarantee that they are asymptotically equivalent to the classical batch tree. Moreover, new decision trees are designed, leading to the original concept of hybrid trees. In turn, nonparametric techniques based on Parzen kernels and orthogonal series are employed to address concept drift in the problem of non-stationary regressions and classification in a time-varying environment. Lastly, an extremely challenging problem that involves designing ensembles and automatically choosing their sizes is described and solved. Given its scope, the book is intended for a professional audience of researchers and practitioners who deal with stream data, e.g. in telecommunication, banking, and sensor networks.
