Such secrets refuse to be confined to Sweetville. But instead will come home with you. Changing everything. Forever… Praise for Secrets of the Weird: "Secrets of the Weird is a harrowing walk through a landscape populated by modern horrors and lit only by failing neon, where the only saving graces are whatever bravery we can summon up from within and whatever kindness we can muster toward our fellow outcasts, and Chad Stroup is the best possible guide a reader could ask for." -- Jeremy P. Bushnell, author of The Insides and The Weirdness "I found Secrets of the Weird to be an engaging and fascinating read. It is a highly unusual, admirably creative foray into a deeply, deeply disturbing world of fiction which nonetheless resonates with modern reality." -- Hal Bodner, author of The Trouble with Hairy and Bite Club! "Insane in the most amazingly sublime hallucinogenic way. Every word, every setting, every character is a garishly intelligent choice. This is the most bizarre but incredible mash up of New Jack City, Blade Runner and Game of Thrones. In an era of non-binary gender and fluid sexuality this is a relevant and timely tale." -- Tracy Lee Palmer, Signal Horizon Proudly presented by Grey Matter Press, the home of multiple Bram Stoker Award-nominated volumes of horror. Book Description
The volume is a commentary on 1 Enoch chapters 91-108 that begins with the Ethiopic text tradition but also takes the Greek and Aramaic (Dead Sea Scrolls) evidence into account. This section of 1 Enoch, which contains material from at least five different documents composed some time during the 2nd century BCE, provides a window into the early stages of the reception of the earliest Enoch tradition, as it was being negotiated in relation to elitist religious opponents, on the one hand, and in relation to other Jewish traditions that were flourishing at the time. The commentary, at the beginning of which there is an extensive introduction, is structured in the following way: there is a translation for each unit of text (including the Greek and Aramaic where it exists, with the Greek and Ethiopic translations presented synoptically), followed by detailed textual notes that justify the translation and provide information on a full range of variations among the manuscripts. This, in turn, is followed by a General Comment on the unit of text; after this there are detailed notes on each subdivision of the text which attempt to situate the content within the stream of biblical interpretation and developing Jewish traditions of the Second Temple period. The five documents in 1 Enoch 91-108 are dealt with in the following order: (1) Apocalypse of Weeks (93:1-10; 91:11-17); (2) Admonition (91:1-10, 18-19); (3) Epistle of Enoch (92:1-5; 93:11-105:2; (4) Birth of Noah (106-107); and (5) the Eschatological Appendix (108).

Book Description
Despite signs in recent decades of a crisis in the Church, a countercurrent of intense interest in prayer and a close relationship with God is clearly at work today. A deeper esteem for contemplation has accompanied this turning to prayer, and many people desire spiritual direction and guidance. Written by a recognized expert on contemplative prayer, this book concentrates on the interior hardships experienced by souls who give themselves to God wholeheartedly. More than a summary of the symptoms of interior trial, these poignant observations are the fruit of the author's many years in retreat work. Personal experience, not simply knowledge of the spiritual tradition, inform his concise, carefully crafted comments. Throughout the book, the writing invites the reader to ponder the subject of spiritual darkness, perplexity, and other struggles in the spiritual life always in the light of the loving God, who draws souls into greater surrender to himself.

Book Description
In the enchanting realm of Celestyn, three heroes stand against a dark fate that threatens to tear their world—and their hearts—apart. Celestyn: Clash of Light and Darkness weaves a tale of magic, loyalty, betrayal, and redemption, where the destinies of a princess, a knight, and a sorceress are interlinked in a story as treacherous as it is thrilling. Princess Sophie is admired throughout Celestyn for her intelligence, grace, and unwavering devotion to her kingdom. Known for her skill in diplomacy, Sophie has kept her people safe from the Kingdom of Nightfrost. Yet, her dreams of peace are shattered when she’s betrayed and captured, thrust into a world of relentless danger. Her courage will be tested as she learns of a deep, ancient power within her—and a destiny she could never have foreseen. Torn between her duty to her people and the magnetic pull of dark forces, Sophie must find her true strength, all while longing for the one person who’s ever captured her heart: Knight Arnold. Arnold, an Arcane Knight of noble spirit, has dedicated his life to protecting Celestyn. His bravery in battle is matched only by his loyalty to Princess Sophie, the love of his life. Yet, as darkness looms, Arnold finds himself pulled into a complex web of alliances and forbidden magics. He is forced to confront not only the external forces threatening his kingdom but also his tangled feelings for Medelyn, a powerful sorceress from his past. Struggling with a promise he must keep to Medelyn, Arnold battles with his heart's desires and the daunting responsibility of wielding an ancient, powerful artifact that may be the kingdom’s only hope—or its doom. Medelyn, once an ambitious young sorceress, fell into a path of darkness after losing her love, Arnold, to the princess she blames for her suffering. Her talents with forbidden magic make her both a formidable ally and a feared adversary. In her quest for revenge, Medelyn isolates herself in the lost valley, vowing to gain enough power to reclaim her place in Arnold's life—by any means necessary. Yet, as she delves deeper into the shadows, she faces her own inner demons and realizes that the path she’s chosen may destroy her soul. Medelyn’s journey is one of vengeance but also of redemption, as she questions whether her heart can truly turn back from the darkness. Bound by love, divided by duty, and tested by the powerful forces of light and shadow, Sophie, Arnold, and Medelyn are caught in a conflict that will decide the fate of Celestyn. As the clash between kingdoms intensifies, old bonds are shattered, secrets are revealed, and each character must choose a path that could either save or doom the world they cherish. In a battle where loyalty is tested and sacrifices are demanded, will the light endure, or will darkness claim victory? Celestyn: Clash of Light and Darkness is a sweeping tale of romance, magic, and warfare, where honor and betrayal walk hand in hand. For lovers of epic fantasy and heart-wrenching character journeys, this book delivers a mesmerizing world where choices have life-altering consequences, and love and power are in a constant dance. Embark on a journey of courage, resilience, and the ultimate battle for redemption and peace.

Book Description
A landmark new translation of the most significant text in medieval Jewish thought. Written in Arabic and completed around 1190, the Guide to the Perplexed is among the most powerful and influential living texts in Jewish philosophy, a masterwork navigating the straits between religion and science, logic and revelation. The author, Rabbi Moses ben Maimon, commonly known as Maimonides or as Rambam, was a Sephardi Jewish philosopher, jurist, and physician. He wrote his Guide in the form of a letter to a disciple. But the perplexity it aimed to cure might strike anyone who sought to square logic, mathematics, and the sciences with biblical and rabbinic traditions. In this new translation by philosopher Lenn E. Goodman and historian Phillip I. Lieberman, Maimonides' warm, conversational voice and clear explanatory language come through as never before in English. Maimonides knew well the challenges facing serious inquirers at the confluence of the two great streams of thought and learning that Arabic writers labeled 'aql and naql, reason and tradition. The aim of the Guide, he wrote, is to probe the mysteries of physics and metaphysics. But mysteries, to Maimonides, were not conundrums to be celebrated for their obscurity. They were problems to be solved. Maimonides' methods and insights resonate throughout the work of later Jewish thinkers, rationalists, and mystics, and in the work of philosophers like Thomas Aquinas, Spinoza, Leibniz, and Newton. The Guide continues to inspire inquiry, discovery, and vigorous debate among philosophers, theologians, and lay readers today. Goodman and Lieberman's extensive and detailed commentary provides readers with historical context and philosophical enlightenment, giving generous access to the nuances, complexities, and profundities of what is widely agreed to be the most significant textual monument of medieval Jewish thought, a work that still offers a key to those who hope to harmonize religious commitments and scientific understanding.
