Book Description
This fascinating book is the first volume in a projected cultural history of the United States, from the earliest English settlements to our own time. It is a history of American folkways as they have changed through time, and it argues a thesis about the importance for the United States of having been British in its cultural origins. While most people in the United States today have no British ancestors, they have assimilated regional cultures which were created by British colonists, even while preserving ethnic identities at the same time. In this sense, nearly all Americans are "Albion's Seed," no matter what their ethnicity may be. The concluding section of this remarkable book explores the ways that regional cultures have continued to dominate national politics from 1789 to 1988, and still help to shape attitudes toward education, government, gender, and violence, on which differences between American regions are greater than between European nations.

Book Description
In October 1917, an invasion force of some 25,000 German soldiers, accompanied by a flotilla of 10 dreadnoughts, 350 other vessels, a half-dozen zeppelins, and 80 aircraft, attacked the Baltic islands of Dago, Osel, and Moon at the head of the Gulf of Riga. It proved to be the most successful amphibious operation of World War I. The three islands fell, the Gulf was opened to German warships and was now a threat to Russian naval bases in the Gulf of Finland, and 20,000 Russians were captured. The invasion proved to be the last major operation in the East. Although the invasion had achieved its objectives and placed the Germans in an excellent position for the resumption of warfare in the spring, within three weeks of the operation, the Bolsheviks took power in Russia (November 7, 1917) and Albion faded into obscurity as the war in the East came to a slow end.

Book Description
Within the soul of every man is the desire to be loved by one's father. Throughout history, this primal urge has resulted in epic and violent acts of betrayal, poetic expressions, loyalty, and dramatic twists of fate and fortune. From Oedipus to Othello, father-son relationships have represented story lines in literature that have altered the arc of the world's civilizations and shaped our modern definition of what it means to be a man. The Long-Aimed Blow, Book One: The Princes of Albion eloquently and graphically depicts an ancient world of dark forests and dusty streets where family dynamics and human passions collide in explosive episodes of rampant tyranny. It's a universal and timeless story of individual egos and generations of pride. Prince Caradoc, not bound by rules, honesty, or reciprocation, is a vengeful son and violent father. He embarks on a ruthless life of reckless ambition that delivers him and his extended family into a fearful journey filled with political intrigue, deadly revenge, and a hope redeemed in the age of the Roman invasion of Britain in 43 AD. Combined with light-hearted adventure, learning to deal with pain through imagination, spiritual hope, and incorporating deep underlying themes of love, kindness, and friendship, The Princes of Albion is a heartbreaking story told from the deepest hearts of people everywhere.

Book Description
Southwest Britain, AD 43. For the people of Caer Cad, 'skin' is their belief, their greeting, their ancestors, their land. Ailia does not have skin. Abandoned at birth, she serves the Tribequeen of her township. Ailia is forbidden to marry, left out of tribal ceremonies and, most devastatingly, barred from attending lessons. But an encounter with a mysterious fish sets her on another path. The Mothers, the tribal ancestors, have chosen her to become their highest knowledge-bearer--the Kendra. Lured by the beautiful and enigmatic Taliesin, who appears to her as both man and fish, Ailia embarks on an unsanctioned journey to attain the knowledge that will protect her people from the most terrifying invaders they have ever faced. Set in Iron-Age Britain, on the cusp of Roman invasion, "Skin" is a thrilling, full-blooded, mesmerizing novel about the collision of two worlds, and a young woman torn between two men.
