Christian Burkhalter (1708-1754), a Mennonite, immigrated with his parents from Switzerland to Germany in 1732, and married in 1737. After his parents died, the family immigrated in 1754 from Germany (via Rotterdam, where Christian died) to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
