Book Description
At Home with Country celebrates the romance of Cabbages & Roses and shows how Christina Strutt's evocative vintage style is equally at home in city apartments, rural retreats and seaside cottages. From urban high-rises to coastal hideaways, the great manor homes of England to the smallest beach house on the other side of the Atlantic, the beauty of the Cabbages & Roses brand is the gentle but highly visible vintage design. This lavish book embodies all locations—country, city and coast. Chapters encompass Classic Country, Modern City, Island Country and Outdoor Country. Homes that bring together the old and the new, evoking the atmosphere of each season, sit beside city spaces where urban living combines with vintage style—think faded florals and ticking fabrics softening an industrial space, splashes of colour to enliven it and contrasting textures to add interest. Coastal dwellings are fresh, breezy and dreamy—beautifully suited for beach living. The book shows that the country can come to the city, that the city can benefit from coastal settings and that the Cabbages & Roses style is a gentle, unassuming and, above all, beautiful asset to any home as it easily complements all environments.

Book Description
"Come, Lord Jesus, be our guest." And he came-as a homeless man, a stranger, a friend. Marian Korth and her partner, Mim Jacobson, have served breakfast to thousands of overnight guests in their home, but they didn't bother to offer a cup of coffee to a homeless man huddling on their doorstep one cold winter morning. Why didn't they welcome this "Jesus" into their home? Marian has more to learn about hospitality, even after sixty years of adventures in hospitality. She can tell stories about being hospitable (or not) from: - Growing up on a small dairy farm in Wisconsin - Living in Chicago for twenty years - Returning to Wisconsin and turning their farmhouse into a bed and breakfast - Providing end-of-life care for guests who live with Marian and Mim in their home - Transforming their bed and breakfast into a spiritual retreat center Kindness is the common thread that runs through all these adventures in hospitality. The first verse Marian memorized as a child was Ephesians 4:32, "Be ye kind, one to another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you." (She memorized it and still thinks about it in the King James Version.) In these stories, Marian reflects on what God is telling her about being hospitable. She thinks it's pretty exciting to know that God has told us, "Be ready with a meal or a bed when it's needed. Why, some have extended hospitality to angels without ever knowing it!" (Hebrews 13:2 The Message)

Book Description
The first description of voice quality production in forty years, this book provides a new framework for its study: The Laryngeal Articulator Model. Informed by instrumental examinations of the laryngeal articulatory mechanism, it revises our understanding of articulatory postures to explain the actions, vibrations and resonances generated in the epilarynx and pharynx. It focuses on the long-term auditory-articulatory component of accent in the languages of the world, explaining how voice quality relates to segmental and syllabic sounds. Phonetic illustrations of phonation types and of laryngeal and oral vocal tract articulatory postures are provided. Extensive video and audio material is available on a companion website. The book presents computational simulations, the laryngeal and voice quality foundations of infant speech acquisition, speech/voice disorders and surgeries that entail compensatory laryngeal articulator adjustment, and an exploration of the role of voice quality in sound change and of the larynx in the evolution of speech.
