Book Description
This book contains a series of unique international contributions that explore risk in partnerships involving education. Presenting a range of theoretical, methodological and practical perspectives, the book discusses aspects such as the role of motivation, leadership, process and context in such partnerships and provides examples of research methods for examining them. It illuminates the different histories and disciplinary backgrounds of partners, showing that risk can reside in the different expectations, understandings and interpretations that each partner brings to educational partnerships. The eighteen chapters discuss critical examinations of educational partnerships from very different perspectives, including formal learning institutions and community partners, and include the voices from children, students, teachers and policy makers. The book provides insights for everyone who is considering the challenges that can arise in partnerships and will be useful for researchers at different levels and those who are planning to forge new partnerships or think about what may present itself to be a challenge, and how to address and overcome such challenges.

Book Description
Teachers regularly seek to update their practice with newly-developed tools from the realm of research, with the aim of applying them directly in the classroom, particularly for teaching reading and writing. Thus, teachers’ continuing education is dependent on the effective dissemination and appropriation of research results. This book explores this problem from multiple angles, presenting research projects from France and Quebec, Canada. Using a variety of methods, including creating teaching materials and engaging classroom teachers in the research process, the authors demonstrate the importance of ownership and dissemination of research results in schools. Although this necessity sometimes complicates the work of researchers, it is vital to develop and maintain the relationship between reading–writing research and its practical applications.

Book Description
Since 1971, UNESCO's Man and the Biosphere (MAB) Programme has embraced a number of principles that link the political, scientific and academic spheres. Biosphere Reserves and Sustainable Development Goals 1 presents these areas as privileged spaces for experimenting with operating methods specific to cross-cutting objectives and issues. These areas encourage the development of interdisciplinary research, supported by a worldwide network to disseminate experience, approaches and knowhow. The various global and local political scales are linked here, with different consequences for the reconfiguration of local political arenas, for specific modes of development linked to a renewed relationship with knowledge, powers and institutions, and for renewed relationships between the worlds of science, education and territorial governance.

Book Description
"This volume contains the proceedings of the 5th Schengen Colloquium that was held on 23 and 24 January 1997 at EIPA in Maastricht. Two major themes were selected, namely judicial cooperation and drugs policy. Prominent insiders provide us with an interesting insight into the Schengen policy-making process in both of these fields. In the field of judicial cooperation (which still lags far behind police cooperation), readers are offered various perspectives, some of which emanate from the European institutions (the European Commission and the Council Secretariat), and others from practitioners and academics. The creation of a European Judicial Space, a network of magistrates, a European Prosecution Service, 'exporting' the National Magistrate model as found in Belgium, or a system of liaison magistrates on a bilateral basis... which provides the best solution for effective judicial cooperation in Europe? As far as drug policy is concerned, we sometimes forget that the approach is not always a repressive one. Amidst international controversy, the Dutch authorities maintain that a preventive, health oriented approach may be more successful than a repressive one. However, at the level of practical police cooperation, solutions are found in more intensive controls along the motorway where the drugs are being transported, and in regional multiagency cooperation across the borders. Significant contributions in this volume concern the incorporation of Schengen into the new Treaty of Amsterdam and the problem of differentiated integration, the enlaregement of the Schengen group (i.e. the accession of the Nordic states), the transparency and the accountability of Schengen, the development of multilateral and bilateral agreements, and the latest developments concering visa and asylum policy. Last but not least, the volume contains a comprehensive overview of the Third Pillar decisions made before 30 June 1997" --

Book Description
This book provides a diverse set of perspectives on the topic. It is very useful reading for anyone interested in understanding coopetition in multiple contexts. Devi R. Gnyawali, Virginia Tech, US As an original strategic management perspective, coopetition has hitherto been underexploited in analysing contemporary firm strategies and behaviours and, more generally, managerial practices and processes. This innovative book provides both theoretical insights and empirical evidence on coopetition. Coopetition shows great interpretive and normative potential and is likely to be an increasingly important tool. This book is one of the first key contributions in shaping and systematizing a novel coopetition agenda in the field of strategy. The book argues that coopetition is neither an extension of competition theory, nor an extension of cooperative theory. It is in fact a specific and distinctive research object, which calls for dedicated theoretical investigation to develop questions for theory, method, and managerial practice. This book provides both practitioners and academic scholars with a milestone that brings together an active community of researchers expressly mobilized around the creative in-depth scrutiny of coopetition. It will greatly appeal to researchers, scholars, and graduate students of management, business strategy competitive dynamics, and international business, as well as practitioners such as managers and consultants.
