Book Description
CETTE ETUDE TRAITE DE LA FLUORESCENCE BLEUE, OBSERVEE VERS 480 ET 450 NM, DANS DES MONOCRISTAUX DE TYPE FLUORITE: FLUORURES ALCALINO-TERREUX ET FLUORURE DE CADMIUM, DOPES AVEC L'ION THULIUM TRIVALENT ET SOUMIS A UNE EXCITATION MONOCHROMATIQUE ROUGE VERS 650 NM. LA SOURCE UTILISEE EST UN LASER ACCORDABLE A COLORANT FONCTIONNANT EN CONTINU. DU FAIT DE LA COMPENSATION DE CHARGE, IL EXISTE, DANS UN CRISTAL DE TYPE FLUORITE, UNE MULTITUDE DE SITES DIFFERENTS POUR L'ION THULIUM, CE QUI COMPLIQUE L'ETUDE SPECTROSCOPIQUE. LA THEORIE DES GROUPES DE SYMETRIE PERMET, DANS LES CAS SIMPLES, DE PREVOIR LA SYMETRIE DES SITES. UNE TELLE CONVERSION DE LUMIERE VERS LES HAUTES FREQUENCES S'EFFECTUE SELON TROIS TYPES DE MECANISMES D'EXCITATION: ABSORPTIONS SUCCESSIVES DE PLUSIEURS PHOTONS, TRANSFERTS D'ENERGIE ENTRE LES IONS DANS UN ETAT EXCITE ET AVALANCHE DE PHOTONS. CE DERNIER PROCESSUS EST UN EFFET COLLECTIF BASE SUR UN TRANSFERT D'ENERGIE A PARTIR D'UN ION A L'ETAT EXCITE VERS UN ION A L'ETAT FONDAMENTAL. SOUS CERTAINES CONDITIONS, CES TRANSFERTS APPELES RELAXATIONS CROISEES PEUVENT CONDUIRE A UNE SORTE DE REACTION EN CHAINE ENTRAINANT UNE IMPORTANTE ET BRUSQUE AUGMENTATION DE L'INTENSITE DE LA FLUORESCENCE ANTISTOKES (PHENOMENE DE SEUIL). LA DETERMINATION DU MECANISME D'EXCITATION, IMPORTANTE POUR LA REALISATION DE L'INVERSION DE POPULATION, NECESSITE UNE ETUDE APPROFONDIE, TANT EN REGIME STATIONNAIRE, EN FONCTION DE LA PUISSANCE EXCITATRICE, QU'EN REGIME DYNAMIQUE: REPONSE A UN ECHELON ET ARRET BRUSQUE DE L'EXCITATION. DANS LES TROIS FLUORURES ALCALINO-TERREUX, UN MECANISME DE TYPE ABSORPTIONS SUCCESSIVES UTILISANT UNE ABSORPTION RESONNANTE DANS UN ETAT EXCITE METASTABLE, A ETE MIS EN EVIDENCE. DES RELAXATIONS CROISEES CONTRIBUENT AU PEUPLEMENT DES ETATS EXCITES MAIS SONT TROP FAIBLES POUR DECLENCHER L'AVALANCHE. LES SITES RESPONSABLES DE CES EMISSIONS ANTISTOKES POSSEDENT DES SYMETRIES DE TYPES CUBIQUE, TRIGONALE ET TETRAGONALE, LA COMPENSATION DE CHARGE ETANT REALISEE PAR UN ION FLUORURE EN POSITION INTERSTITIELLE. DANS LE FLUORURE DE CADMIUM, L'EMISSION A 450 NM LA PLUS INTENSE PRESENTE TOUTES LES CARACTERISTIQUES DE L'AVALANCHE DE PHOTONS. LE SITE RESPONSABLE DE CETTE EMISSION EST, SANS DOUTE, UNE ASSOCIATION D'IONS THULIUM

Bound Lives
Author: Rachel Sarah O'Toole
Publisher: University of Pittsburgh Pre
ISBN: 0822977966
Category : History
Languages : en
Pages : 274
Book Description
Bound Lives chronicles the lived experience of race relations in northern coastal Peru during the colonial era. Rachel Sarah O'Toole examines how Andeans and Africans negotiated and employed casta, and in doing so, constructed these racial categories. Royal and viceregal authorities separated "Indians" from "blacks" by defining each to specific labor demands. Casta categories did the work of race, yet, not all casta categories did the same type of work since Andeans, Africans, and their descendants were bound by their locations within colonialism and slavery. The secular colonial legal system clearly favored indigenous populations. Andeans were afforded greater protections as "threatened" native vassals. Despite this, in the 1640s during the rise of sugar production, Andeans were driven from their assigned colonial towns and communal property by a land privatization program. Andeans did not disappear, however; they worked as artisans, muleteers, and laborers for hire. By the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries, Andeans employed their legal status as Indians to defend their prerogatives to political representation that included the policing of Africans. As rural slaves, Africans often found themselves outside the bounds of secular law and subject to the judgments of local slaveholding authorities. Africans therefore developed a rhetoric of valuation within the market and claimed new kinships to protect themselves in disputes with their captors and in slave-trading negotiations. Africans countered slaveholders' claims on their time, overt supervision of their labor, and control of their rest moments by invoking customary practices. Bound Lives offers an entirely new perspective on racial identities in colonial Peru. It highlights the tenuous interactions of colonial authorities, indigenous communities, and enslaved populations and shows how the interplay between colonial law and daily practice shaped the nature of colonialism and slavery.
