Broken Contract
Author: Richard D. Kahlenberg
Publisher: Univ of Massachusetts Press
ISBN: 9781558492349
Category : Biography & Autobiography
Languages : en
Pages : 264
Book Description
In 1986, 70 percent of the first-year class of Harvard Law School wanted to pursue careers in public-interest law. Ten years later, the same percentage of this class was pursuing careers in private corporate firms. How is it that these students began their careers interested in using law as a vehicle for social change, but ended up in those very law firms most resistant to change? How are law students able to reconcile liberal politics with careers in corporate law? Richard D. Kahlenberg's Broken Contract serves to warn prospective law students on the transformation that happens during the second and third years. His memoir explores the intense competitiveness and insidious pressure leading to jobs that are lucrative, prestigious, and challenging-but ultimately unsatisfying. Though Broken Contract doesn't seek to convince every law student to go into public service, Kahlenberg means to challenge and restructure our social institutions to make it easier to follow our impulses toward good instead of toward the goods.

Pages : 312
Book Description
I shouldn't have read my secretary's diary, In my defense, I didn't know it WAS her diary at first. But it made one thing clear...she wanted a baby, And it just so happens-so did I. The night I gave in, The night I reached out and pulled her to me, It wasn't driven by my plan to ask her for a child, It was two years of pure pent up desire. For two years I'd watched shy, reserved Stella work for me, She's the only woman that I've let in my life, The only woman who isn't afraid to call me on my BS.The only woman I want to be the mother of my child-but she deserves better. I've spent my life taking over my father's company, I'm what some would call-married to my career. But the fact is, I want my own heir to pass my business on to, And she's my perfect opportunity. It's simple: No relationship obligations, No financial obligations, Just a baby.Or so I thought... Hiding my feelings for her and the diary confession I found is more than just a complication, About the time I feel like I've completely shot myself in the foot, I find out, I'm not the only one hiding a secret. ***Check Out this Full-Length Baby Contract Story Filled with Intrigue, Flirting and Romance.***No Cheating. No Cliffhangers. And, of course, Includes An Unabashedly Passionate HEA.***All Books In This Enticing Series Can Be Read As A Standalone.

Contract farming, productivity and fertilizer usage: Empirical evidence from specialty crop production
Author: Mishra, Ashok K.
Publisher: Intl Food Policy Res Inst
ISBN:
Category : Political Science
Languages : en
Pages : 43
Book Description
This study investigates the impact of contract farming (CF) in baby corn production on yield, irrigation costs, fertilizer costs and usage of chemical fertilizer. We find that adoption of CF by baby corn smallholders, after controlling for characteristics of both control and treatment groups, leads to higher yields and lower spending on fertilizers and irrigation. Additionally, CF in baby corn farming leads to a reduction in the use of chemical fertilizers (Urea and DAP). Thus, CF intervention benefits the livelihood of smallholders, reduces environmental degradation and reduces stress on groundwater without compromising yield.
