Book Description
This is a book of historical fiction. The story is loosely based on the life of my great-great-grandmother. The story spans one hundred years of Irish history. Connie, the main character in the book, lived through every year of the twentieth century. Connie was born in Belfast, North Ireland, in the year of 1900 and passed in the year of 2000. Connie lived through both the First and the Second World Wars. Connie also lived through what became known as the troubles in North Ireland. Hence the title, Connies Wars. Connie was born into an extremely wealthy family. It would be fair to say that Connie lived a life of privilege, wanting for nothing throughout her early years. As a child, Connie was taught by both her mother and father that to live a life of such privilege carried a huge responsibility. A duty to look after those less fortunate than she was. Connie was taught that it was the duty of the wealthy to provide work and security for the working classes. This was a lesson that Connie learned well and put it into practices throughout her life. Although a Unionist and loyal to the British Crown all her life, Connie never ever harbored bigoted thoughts of any kind. When dealing with people no matter their creed, Connie always treated people as just that, people.

Book Description
The Philadelphia Athletics dominated the first fourteen years of the American League, winning six pennants through 1914 under the leadership of their founder and manager, Connie Mack. But beginning in 1915, where volume 2 in Norman L. Macht’s biography picks up the story, Mack’s teams fell from pennant winners to last place and, in an unprecedented reversal of fortunes, stayed there for seven years. World War I robbed baseball of young players, and Mack’s rebuilding efforts using green youngsters of limited ability made his teams the objects of public ridicule. At the age of fifty-nine and in the face of widespread skepticism and seemingly insurmountable odds, Connie Mack reasserted his genius, remade the A’s, and rose again to the top, even surpassing his earlier success. Baseball biographer and historian Macht recreates what may be the most remarkable chapter in this larger-than-life story. He shows us the man and his time and the game of baseball in all its nitty-gritty glory of the 1920s, and how Connie Mack built the 1929–1931 champions of Foxx, Simmons, Cochrane, Grove, Earnshaw, Miller, Haas, Bishop, Dykes—a team many consider baseball’s greatest ever.

Book Description
A heart beats very loud in Connie's room, but it isn't her own. As the clock strikes twelve, the heartbeat gets louder and faster. The walls appear to be respirating to the beat. Something in Connie's room is coming to life. Then Connie stirred in her sleep. She is awakened by the heartbeat. "Who's there, who is it"? Asked Connie as she awakes from her last dream. Connie jumped up and ran to the closet. She tried to open the door, but it had been locked for years. She listened at the door. She could hear a small voice whispering, "let me out, I can't breath, let me out". The voice was of a young child. It sounded very much like her own voice. Connie was determined to find out who was inside of her closet. The very closet her father begged her not to tamper with. "Who are you? Who's there"? Connie felt ridiculous talking to a blank door. But she had some relief when she heard a response. "I am Einnoc, I am Einnoc, let me out". Here I have Connie's story of dreams. She is a dreamer whose dreams come true.

Book Description
Giving Connie life was one thing her mother, Mary Law, could do for her daughter on that desperately sun-drenched day in 1835. Her bedroom door barely kept the sand out and couldnt mask the drunken party below or Marys weak screams and anguished cries. Zack Law was furious when he learned Mary had delivered a beautiful, healthy girl that day. He cussed at Mary, Connie, and the doctor then abruptly rode away. Here then is the story of Connie Law, the prettiest female most men have ever seen. Some said she was ruthless, a killer, and too bold; others found her a gentle and caring soul. Her hair was golden sunlight, and her eyes were the color of the sea. She rode the winds of hell to rewrite her history. Connie was quiet. She could fool some, but make no mistake, she was good with her guns. Mary Law left her home in Maine and traveled to Texas with her young husband and would become a prisoner of his deceit and treachery. She gave Zack five sons, and her husband would own them all. Zackary Law had a hatred for women, and if he loved anything, it was money. Connie and Mary suffered painfully at the hands of Zack until he and his three eldest sons were killed in an Indian attack, which would change the town of Murder Creek forever. The raid took Connie and several other girls from their homes and families. They would learn the laws of survival or die.

Book Description
I wrote this book for two reasons, both of which are tightly intertwined. First is the fact that my daughter Connie and I discussed writing this book together while she was a freshman at the University of Kentucky. After her death, I needed to accomplish that goal we had set together, to share our faith in God with others who were not fortunate to have been brought up in a Christian home. Second is the fact that I know Satan was controlling the drunk driver who was responsible for Connies death. Therefore, I want to honor God by sharing my faith that Connie is in heaven. Satan took Connies life in this world, but God gave Connie eternal life in heaven. Through faith in Jesus Christ, we will someday be in heaven together again. The Bible is the most published book in the world by far, at over nine billion copies. Yet I acknowledge that the Bible is not the easiest place for someone new to Christian theology to begin a journey with God in our modern, science-dominated, politically correct culture. Therefore, I have captured a lifetime of study and discussions about the Bible and shared it with you in this book, in the hopes it will make you aware of what God offers everyone.

Book Description
In spite of Connie Willis’s numerous science fiction awards and her groundbreaking history as a woman in the field, there is a surprising dearth of critical publication surrounding her work. Taking Doomsday Book as its cue, this collection argues that Connie Willis’s most famous novel, along with the rest of her oeuvre, performs science fiction’s task of cognitive estrangement by highlighting our human inability to read the times correctly—and yet also affirming the ethical imperative to attempt to truly observe and record our temporal location. Willis’s fiction emphasizes that doomsdays happen every day, and they risk being forgotten by some, even as their trauma repeats for others. However, disasters also have the potential to upend accepted knowledge and transform the social order for the better, and this collection considers the ways that Willis pairs comic and tragic modes to reflect these uncertainties.
