Book Description
CCIS is a revolutionary new hardware and software system for Navy data management, giving a command center the capability for providing high quality information to its commander as an aid in his decision making. It allows processing of natural language queries to proceed at the same time as dynamic data update. It provides extensibility so that the computer can 'understand' the commander's individualized description of data received in the command center from standard static and dynamic sources. It also allows those dynamic sources to be customized uniformly to the particular command center. (Author).

A Generic and Target Architecture For Command and Control Information Systems

Languages : en
Pages : 437
Book Description
The Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) has been directed to upgrade the Worldwide Military Command and Control System (WWMCCS) by providing a Command and Control Information System (CCIS) which offers a combination of services and products that aid interoperability and that have sufficient flexibility to accommodate the varied missions of WWMCCS users. The architectural premise is of an open, interoperable, and heterogeneous set of systems and components linked together to accomplish command and control functions. DISA asked IDA to develop a generic, standards-based architecture consistent with CCIS needs, an architecture based on accepted standards that foster interoperability, evolvability, and allow for technology growth with commercial off-the-shelf products. This paper describes the military requirements, the generic architecture, and the standards profile appropriate for a CCIS to be built in the 1995-97 time period.

Tutorial, Centralized and Distributed Data Base Systems
Author: Wesley W. Chu
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Bases de datos
Languages : en
Pages : 680
Book Description
In this, an era of information explosion, computer play an increasingly important role in storing, manipulating, and retrieving data. Data base management systems are designed to simplify these tasks, and the greater tasks that require that these systems be networked, such as real-time information handling. There are many important problems in the design and development of centralized and distributed data base management systems. Solutions are generally first presented in technical papers in journals and conference proceedings. This volume collects a set of these fundamental and up-to-date papers on various problems in the field of data base design, implementation, and expansion.
