Book Description
This book is divided into three main parts and an epilogue. The first part of the book provides a context for the readers to understand the underlying background of our work. Chapter 1 gives a brief overview about wayang kulit, whereas second chapter introduces the field of digital humanities that has particularly touched the art of wayang kulit. The second part of the book is focused on the engineering design in wayang kulit, particularly related to the methods we developed to display 3D shadow images. The third chapter qualitatively explains the phenomenon of colour-based stereoscopic shadows, which form the basis of 3D shadow images. In the fourth chapter we start to describe quantitatively the optical methods to synthesize the 3D shadow images. In the fifth chapter, we share our experiences from two art exhibitions, i.e. the Jogja ArtWeeks in 2015 and the 'Wayang and New Technology' in Tembi Rumah Budaya in 2016. The sixth chapter explores the quantitative methods to digitally synthesize the 3D shadow images, which opens up new possibilities in art performances, where dhalangs can combine real and virtual 3D shadow images. The third part of the book is focused on the engineering analysis in wayang kulit. In the seventh chapter, we start with the analysis of the puppet shapes. Afterwards, in the eighth chapter we use the 3D shadow images described in Chapters 3–6 to quantitatively measure the pose of the puppets. The same method can also be extended to analyse the puppet movements, which is explained in the ninth chapter. This quantitative analysis of the puppet movements is a continuation of the research pioneered by Prof. Roger A. Long in 1979, on the puppet movements in the Ngayogyakarta wayang kulit. Meanwhile, in the tenth chapter, we analyse the audiovisual patterns in wayang kulit performances. These patterns may become relevant, not only for engineers who are interested in developing interactive artworks, but also for scholars in the field of digital humanities who are interested to investigate the change of wayang kulit performances over space and time. Book Description
I'm blacking out and waking up in dangerous places, not knowing what I've done. And going to goth clubs, creepy rich guy parties, and experimental music shows with my formerly possessed, amnesiac roommate isn't helping the situation much. Yea, I'm partying, but I swear I'm not doing any drugs—that's not why I'm passing out—I stick to a couple of good ol' cheap, American beers. I am starting to worry that something is very wrong with me, though. And the trouble I'm getting into during my blackouts is getting more and more extreme. I'm lucky I haven't been jailed... yet. After battling evil spirits and traveling to hell dimensions, is your girl Kendra finally starting to crack? Well, if witnessing the unique train wreck that's my life is the kind of thing that gets you off, you're gonna want to read my blog. Shadow Puppet is the third and final book in the Kendra Temples: The Demonic Diaries series (but not the last Kendra Temples book!). Book 1 is available for free on Kobo. Praise for The Demonic Diaries "With The Demonic Diaries, author Eve Harms gifts us with gothic fiction befitting our doomed 21st century. Cool, smartly-researched lore and a protagonist who, try as she might, can't stay out of supernatural trouble, Eve's series promises fun and delivers it." - Lucas Mangum, Splatterpunk Award-nominated author of Saint Sadist & Gods of the Dark Web. "A fun series - Kendra's quirky narrative voice makes the pages fly by, and Eve Harms makes the most of intensive, enthralling research. Compulsively readable - demons and possession with a side of humor." - Laurel Hightower, author of Crossroads and co-host of Ink Heist Podcast

Book Description
Sensory Theatre: How to Make Interactive, Inclusive, Immersive Theatre for Diverse Audiences by a Founder of Oily Cart is an accessible step-by-step guide to creating theatre for inclusive audiences, such as young people on the autism spectrum or affected by other neuro-divergent conditions and children under two. Conventional theatre relies on seeing and hearing to involve its audience; sensory theatre harnesses the power of five or more senses to address its participants who have different ways of relating to the world around them. This book is an insightful history of Oily Cart and its pioneering development of work for the very young, including Baby Theatre, and for neuro-divergent audiences including those on the autism spectrum. It gives a clear introduction to the fundamental concepts of this theatre, suggests a host of practical techniques drawn from over forty years of experience, and describes some of Oily Cart’s most radical innovations, including theatre on trampolines, in hydrotherapy pools, and with flying audiences in the company of aerial artists. The book also includes copious photos from the Oily Cart’s archives and links to videos examples of the company’s work. Readers will learn how to: Research the intended audience while not being led astray by labels. Create a welcoming, immersive sensory space in classrooms, nurseries, school halls, and playgrounds. Devise sensory stories that can be adapted to suit different audiences. Recruit, audition, cast, and run rehearsals. Ensure that the production is truly sensory and interactive. Written for Theatre for Young Audiences, Drama in Education, and specialized Applied Theatre courses, as well as educators and theatre practitioners interested in creating inclusive, interactive productions, Sensory Theatre offers a goldmine of ideas for making work that connects with audiences who can be the hardest to reach.
