Genetic Variation in Blue Spruce
Author: David F. Van Haverbeke
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Spruce
Languages : en
Pages : 12
Book Description
Analyses of 43 blue spruce populations at age 12 (9 years in the field) revealed significant differences among populations for survival, height, vigor, crown diameter, frost injury, and foliage color. Use of regions increases the probability of locating better seeds sources, but high variability among individual populations within regions limits their value in specifying where better seed sources can be collected. Phenotypes should be selected in best stands within regions.

How-To Plant and Grow Colorado Blue Spruce Trees
Author: William A. Jack
Publisher: Independently Published
ISBN: 9781791686246
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 34
Book Description
Trees come in a wide array of leaf shapes, sizes, flower arrangements, growth habits, and so on, but one of the most striking and sought after features is the blue to bluish-gray foliage of the Colorado Blue Spruce. For quite a long time, the most popularly planted evergreen is the Blue. If they were faster growing, more readily available, and reasonably priced, they might well be the most widely planted tree (of all types) nationwide. The Blue Spruce is a nice tree for the home and landscape design, versatile in usage, and hardy of a wide range of growing conditions.

One Hundred Species and One Family Tree
Author: William Moldwin
Publisher: Archway Publishing
ISBN: 1665716711
Category : Biography & Autobiography
Languages : en
Pages : 172
Book Description
While surrounded by a two-acre property, garden, and wooded thicket that contains over a hundred species of trees, William Moldwin has been pondering the ethics of simplicity, ecology, aging, growth, and time. Moldwin entwines fascinating facts about trees with inspiring historical and personal stories of their significance to him, an amateur botanist and son of Hungarian immigrants. While exploring the connections and roles trees play within our natural world, including their medicinal uses, Moldwin reflects on how these trees sustain each other by communicating in various ways through pheromones such as chemical agents, fungi, and root systems—all while his own family tree has sustained many generations, each providing unique contributions to the world. Throughout his presentation, Moldwin’s essays inspire tranquility and harmony while encouraging others to walk among the trees and to bathe in their physical and psychological health benefits as you remember to fight for the green revolution. One Hundred Species and One Family Tree blends a fascinating exploration of the history of trees with a retired pastor’s reflections on his family legacy.
