Book Description
Color Your Math offers a fun way for kids ages 3 to 6 develop their intuition about numbers while showing parents essential early number concepts. Using fun to color images of animals, cupcakes, cookies and clowns, this elementary math coach created book is as sophisticated as it is silly. It is designed to appeal to boys and girls and includes dogs, cats, cars, robots and ice cream cones. More than a workbook, this book has large images and subtly shows many ways of thinking about numbers. Parents can support their young children by reading the simple question on the left page and listening to the response. More than simple counting, this book shows how to use counters to represent numbers and challenges preschoolers, kindergarteners and first graders to consider, "How many are missing?" which is the number one struggle in early numeracy development. This book has a variety of different images to appeal to boys and girls. The math is subtle and I do hope it inspires parents to replicate some of these ideas while playing with their children. These are also a fabulous center activity in the preschool and kindergarten classroom and are still worthwhile for first graders. First grade teachers know the importance of early number sense and hiding games and part whole models give that a huge boost! How to use this book: Math suggestions are included on the left page for each coloring page. We begin with "cardinality and correspondence". Children can count the items and write the numeral in the speech bubble. Ask them to draw the same number of counters or colored circles in the "5 Frame" as shown in the first image. You can begin by tracing mine. Research shows we do not spend enough time developing solid understanding of numbers nested within 5 (ALL the ways of making 5 and 4 and 3 and 2 and 1 and 0.) While the math is optional, there are ideas for telling math stories, estimating and playing Which One Doesn't Belong? While it is essential to continue counting higher and higher, we must count actual items more than simply saying the numbers. Children need a solid sense about 0-5 in order to build deeper understanding within 10. Book Description
A coloring book that invites readers to explore symmetry and the beauty of math visually. Beautiful Symmetry is a coloring book about math, inviting us to engage with mathematical concepts visually through coloring challenges and visual puzzles. We can explore symmetry and the beauty of mathematics playfully, coloring through ideas usually reserved for advanced courses. The book is for children and adults, for math nerds and math avoiders, for educators, students, and coloring enthusiasts. Through illustration, language that is visual, and words that are jargon-free, the book introduces group theory as the mathematical foundation for discussions of symmetry, covering symmetry groups that include the cyclic groups, frieze groups, and wallpaper groups. The illustrations are drawn by algorithms, following the symmetry rules for each given group. The coloring challenges can be completed and fully realized only on the page; solutions are provided. Online, in a complementary digital edition, the illustrations come to life with animated interactions that show the symmetries that generated them. Traditional math curricula focus on arithmetic and the manipulation of numbers, and may make some learners feel that math is not for them. By offering a more visual and tactile approach, this book shows how math can be for everyone. Combining the playful and the pedagogical, Beautiful Symmetry offers both relaxing entertainment for recreational colorers and a resource for math-curious readers, students, and educators.

Book Description
Your student will build foundational math skills while being creative and learning about wildlife. Active and creative children often struggle with math because they are often expected to memorize facts without understanding them. This workbook is designed to eliminate the confusion that is common to visual thinkers. Creative students will enjoy being artistic while focusing on the details on the wildlife coloring pages. Scientifically minded students will do research on animals while engaging in math. Students who love expressing themselves with words will have fun with the creative writing activities. This isn't just a math book, this book integrates math with art, logic, writing, creativity, relaxation, research and science. The goal is to activate as many parts of the brain as possible to make strong mental connections between science, art, numbers and writing. This book is designed to build intelligence and spark curiosity by educating the whole child in a way that keeps creative, curious, and active students focused. This book is designed to be used in 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade to help students develop a strong number sense. The activities may seem simple, but they are essential. Without understanding the logic of the number system students will not be able to grasp the vital concepts of mathematical reasoning and calculating. The purpose of this book is to build a strong mathematical foundation that will help your child to truly grasp the meaning of numbers. Many children start their mathematical journey by memorizing facts before understanding the meaning, they quickly become frustrated and disinterested. This book uses detailed art, photography of animals, logic and games to spark curiosity. Parent Teacher Instructions: Share the first six pages with your student. Count together, write together and color together. Take turns doing each activity. Show the child how to use this book. The student should use 2 - 4 pages per day. Help the child as needed. If the child ever struggles with any of the activities, you should sit down with the child and get started on the page, you should be a good example. Let the child take over, once he grasps the concept. Creative Pages: There are pictures to color and lines for creative writing and research. There is no need for parents and teachers to correct mistakes or criticize the student's creative work. The coloring and writing activities in this book are designed to allow the child to be creative and reflective between math activities. Criticism has a negative impact of on a child's creative flow, so resist the temptation to correct the child's creative work, even if you spot a misspelled word.
