Book Description
The fiction and poetry of Queer Little Nightmares reimagines monsters old and new through a queer lens, subverting the horror gaze to celebrate ideas and identities canonically feared in monster lit. Throughout history, monsters have appeared in popular culture as stand-ins for the non-conforming, the marginalized of society. Pushed into the shadows as objects of fear, revulsion, and hostility, these characters have long conjured fascination and self-identification in the LGBTQ+ community, and over time, monsters have become queer icons. In Queer Little Nightmares, creatures of myth and folklore seek belonging and intimate connection, cryptids challenge their outcast status, and classic movie monsters explore the experience of coming into queerness. The characters in these stories and poems—the Minotaur camouflaged in a crowd of cosplayers, a pubescent werewolf, a Hindu revenant waiting to reunite with her lover, a tender-hearted kaiju, a lagoon creature aching for the swimmers above him, a ghost of Pride past—relish their new sparkle in the spotlight. Pushing against tropes that have historically been used to demonize, the queer creators of this collection instead ask: What does it mean to be (and to love) a monster? Contributors include Amber Dawn, David Demchuk, Hiromi Goto, jaye simpson, Eddy Boudel Tan, and Kai Cheng Thom. Book Description
It takes Wonder Woman courage and Superman strength to heal the wounds of abuse and…perhaps to love again. Special Agent Jamie Gallagher had a rough start. Her years in foster care gave her a personal drive unlike most people. Everything she touched became a testament to her strength. From an Olympic gold medal at seventeen to the Secret Service and finally settling in with the FBI. Her life has purpose and there isn’t room for anything else, including a man or a serious relationship. New York billionaire Colin MacKenzie led a privileged life but achieved his own success with acceptance to Harvard and furthered it when he, and his college roommate, sold an app in a multi-million-dollar deal. He then started and grew his business into a multi-billion-dollar corporation. With little to no success with dating, as most women saw his bank account before they saw him, he’s not sure if he’ll get married or if he even wants to. When an attempt is made on Colin’s life, the FBI assigns Jaime as his bodyguard. She is forced to move into Colin’s Manhattan penthouse until the suspect is apprehended, and once there the sparks fly. Colin is immediately taken by the sultry redhead and has difficulty remembering that he’s merely an assignment. Jaime must protect Colin’s life but who will protect her heart? This is book three in the Steel and Desire series but can be enjoyed independently.

Benson, in full Edward Frederic Benson, (born July 24, 1867, Wellington College, Berkshire, Eng.-died Feb. 29, 1940, London), writer of fiction, reminiscences, and biographies, of which the best remembered are his arch, satirical novels and his urbane autobiographical studies of Edwardian and Georgian society. The son of E.W. Benson, an archbishop of Canterbury (1883-96), the young Benson was educated at Marlborough School and at King's College, Cambridge. After graduation he worked from 1892 to 1895 in Athens for the British School of Archaeology and later in Egypt for the Society for the Promotion of Hellenic Studies. In 1893 he published Dodo, a novel that attracted wide attention. It was followed by a number of other successful novels-such as Mrs. Ames (1912), Queen Lucia (1920), Miss Mapp (1922), and Lucia in London (1927)-and books on a wide range of subjects, totaling nearly 100. Among them were biographies of Queen Victoria, William Gladstone, and William II of Germany. In 1938 he was made an honorary fellow of Magdalene College, Cambridge. Benson's reminiscences include As We Were (1930), As We Are (1932), and Final Edition (1940). (britannica.com)
