Meanwhile, like nearly all the other gifts and occupations of the kindergarten, clay modeling has found its way into the primary school and is being everywhere practiced. But there are many teachers, who, although they are anxious to secure its benefits for their pupils, feel at a loss just how to manage the clay so as to secure the best result from its use. The author trusts that this treatise will prove a boon to such teachers. She has made a study of clay modeling for many years. The sequence or school of modeling here presented was arranged by her in the spring of 1876.
