Book Description
This is an ebook version of the "A-Level Study Guide - Chemistry (Higher 2) - Ed H2.2" published by Step-by-Step International Pte Ltd. [ For the revised Higher 2 (H2) syllabus with first exam in 2017. ] This ebook gives concise illustrated notes and worked examples. It is intended as a study guide for readers who have studied the O-Level Chemistry or the equivalent. It contains material that most readers should want to take note of when attending formal lessons and/or discussions on the Singapore-Cambridge GCE A-Level Higher 2 (H2) Chemistry. [As the Higher 1 (H1) Chemistry syllabus is a subset of the H2 Chemistry syllabus, this ebook is also suitable for readers studying Chemistry at the H1 level.] The concise notes cover essential steps to understand the relevant theories. The illustrations and worked examples show essential workings to apply those theories. We believe the notes and illustrations will help readers learn to "learn" and apply the relevant knowledge. The ebook should help readers study and prepare for their exams. Relevant feedbacks from Examiner Reports, reflecting what the examiners expected, are incorporated into the notes and illustrations where possible, or appended as notes (NB) where appropriate. It is also a suitable aid for teaching and revision.

Book Description
Fundamentals of Chemistry, Third Edition introduces the reader to the fundamentals of chemistry, including the properties of gases, atomic and molecular weights, and the first and second laws of thermodynamics. Chemical equations and chemical arithmetic are also discussed, along with the structure of atoms, chemical periodicity, types of chemical bonds, and condensed states of matter. This book is comprised of 26 chapters and begins with a historical overview of chemistry and some terms which are part of the language of chemists. Separation and purification are covered in the first chapter, while the following chapters focus on atomic and molecular weights, stoichiometry, the structure of atoms, and types of chemical bonds. The molecular orbital (MO) theory of bonding, galvanic cells, and chemical thermodynamics are considered next. Separate chapters are devoted to MO theory of covalent and metallic bonding; orbital hybridization; intermolecular forces; acids and bases; ionic equilibrium calculations; and polymers and biochemicals. This monograph is intended for chemistry students.

Book Description
This book offers a survey of the historic development of selected areas of chemistry and chemical physics, discussing in detail the European, American and Russian approaches to the development of chemistry. Other key topics include the kinetics and non-linear thermodynamics of chemical reactions and mathematical modeling, which have found new applications in the theory of dynamical systems. The first observations of the periodicity of chemical reactions were lost in the mist of time. In the second half of the 19th century, the phenomenon of chemical periodicity was studied in relation to electrochemistry, solutions and colloids. Discovered in the late 19th century, Liesegang rings are still enigmatic and remain attractive for researchers. However, the discovery of the Belousov–Zhabotinsky reaction marked the successful culmination of the efforts to find a true chemical oscillatory reaction. The book investigates chemical phenomena that were neglected in the past, but have been rediscovered, placing them into a new conceptual framework. For example, it notes that William Bray, who discovered the first oscillatory homogeneous reaction in 1921, was influenced by the first bio-mathematicians who predicted chemical oscillations in homogeneous systems.

Book Description
Introduction to Chemistry is a 26-chapter introductory textbook in general chemistry. This book deals first with the atoms and the arithmetic and energetics of their combination into molecules. The subsequent chapters consider the nature of the interactions among atoms or the so-called chemical bonding. This topic is followed by discussions on the nature of intermolecular forces and the states of matter. This text further explores the statistics and dynamics of chemistry, including the study of equilibrium and kinetics. Other chapters cover the aspects of ionic equilibrium, acids and bases, and galvanic cells. The concluding chapters focus on a descriptive study of chemistry, such as the representative and transition elements, organic and nuclear chemistry, metals, polymers, and biochemistry. Teachers and undergraduate chemistry students will find this book of great value.
