Book Description
In this thesis two different analyses are presented, namely the measurements of the properties of $\Lambda_c(2595)^+$, $\Lambda_c(2625)^+$, $\Sigma_c(2455)^{++,0}$, and $\Sigma_c(2520)^{++,0}$ baryons as well as the search for $CP$ violation in the Dalitz plot of the decay $D^0 \to K_S^0\, \pi^+\, \pi^-$. Both studies are performed using data corresponding to 5.2\, \invfb respective 6.0\, \invfb of integrated luminosity from $p\bar{p}$ collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96\, TeV, collected with the CDF~II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. The masses and decay widths of the mentioned charmed baryon resonances are measured with uncertainties comparable to the world averages for $\Sigma_c$ states, and significantly smaller uncertainties than the world averages for excited $\Lambda_c^+$ states. No hints for any $CP$ violating effects in the resonant substructure of $D^0 \to K_S^0\, \pi^+\, \pi^-$ are found.

Book Description
We measure CP-violating asymmetries of neutral charmed mesons in the modes D° → K−K and D° →?−?+ with the highest precision to date by using D° → K−?+ decays to correct detector asymmetries. An analysis of 385.8 fb−1 of data collected with the BaBar detector yields values of a{sup KK}{sub CP} = (0.00 ± 0.34 (stat.) ± 0.13 (syst.))% and a{sup?{pi}}{sub CP} = ( -0.24 ± 0.52 (stat.) ± 0.22 (syst.))%, which agree with Standard Model predictions.

Book Description
We report a measurement of the CP violating asymmetry in D° →??− decays using approximately 215,000 decays reconstructed in about 5.94 fb−1 of CDF data. We use the strong D*+ → D°?+ decay ('D* tag') to identify the flavor of the charmed meson at production time and exploit CP-conserving strong c{bar c} pair-production in p{bar p} collisions. Higher statistic samples of Cabibbo-favored D° → K−?+ decays with and without D* tag are used to highly suppress systematic uncertainties due to detector effects. The result, A{sub CP}(D° →?+?−) = [0.22 ± 0.24 (stat.) ± 0.11 (syst.)]%, is the world's most precise measurement to date and it is fully consistent with no CP violation.

Book Description
Presented are the results of a search for direct CP violation in Cabibbo-suppressed decays of D° to two charged daughters. The analysis described was performed on ≈230 fb−1 of the BABAR data sample, recorded at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center and using the PEP-II electron storage rings. We measure CP asymmetries for decay to the KK and [pi][pi] final states, as well as for the branching ratio, and develop a new technique for tagging-efficiency correction using the Cabibbo-favored K[pi] final state. We find some evidence for CP violation in decays to the KK final state and results that suggest CP violation in the [pi][pi] final state as well.

Book Description
Results of recent searches for new physics in CP violation in charm decays from the BABAR experiment are presented. These results include a measurement of D0 - anti D0 mixing and searches for CP violation in two-body D0 decays, a search for CP violation in the charm decays D" 2!KS0K " and D s" 2!KS0K", KS0[pi]", and a search for direct CP violation in the singly-Cabibbo suppressed D" 2!K+K-[pi]"decays. These studies are based on the fi nal dataset collected by BABAR at the PEP-II B factory at SLAC in the period 1999-2008. No evidence of CP violation is found in these charm decays. The measured mixing parameter yCP = [0.72 " 0.18(stat) " 0.12(syst)]% excludes the no-mixing null hypothesis with a signifi cance of 3.3[sigma].

Book Description
For a long time after the discovery in 1964, by Christenson, Cronin, Fitch and Turlay, that the long-lived neutral kaon decays both into three and into two pions, which has since been taken as proof of CP violation, successive new and more precise experiments confirmed the original evidence and provided results compatible with a phenomenological description confining the CP violation to the mixing between neutral kaons and antikaons. However the Standard Model, with three generations of quarks, linking as it does CP violation to the presence of a single non trivial phase in the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa quark mixing matrix, implies that if CP violation exists at all, then it is a general property of weak interactions, appearing in transitions were amplitudes involving all three quark families interfere with each other, producing effects with a magnitude related to that of the CKM coefficients. This fact has stimulated an impressive amount of theoretical work leading in many cases to precise predictions. This publication reviews the field, from both the theoretical and experimental point of view, while planning for the forthcoming experimentation at LHC and considering possible new facilities for kaon, B meson and neutrino physics.
